After seeing my favorite blonde YouTuber rave about this product I immediately ordered a 3 pack and anxiously awaited its arrival! It showed up today and I immediately started intensive research on the best way to use/apply. After reading about all the horror stories on Amazon I was terrified and wished I had read them before I clicked buy. I wanted it to improve the quality of my hair after all the abuse I’ve put it through, not hasten its death. Under my toner a good portion of my hair is near white due to over bleaching. After taking all the information I had gathered and using common sense I came up with my game plan.
I shampooed my hair, brushed it out, mixed the Malibu blonde crystals in a bowl (not my palm) with 1 ounce of water as stated in the directions. There’s no way 1 ounce of water would’ve fit in my hand and since I regularly color my hair I had a bowl and measuring scoop on hand. The consistency I ended up with was that of a 20vol developer with a cloudy clear color. I separated my hair into 2 side sections and clipped. Worked the product through the bottom on one side, gently, combing through with my fingers and gently rubbing. Kinda exactly the way the product was shown to be used in the video that inspired this purchase. Then switched to the other side and worked my way up alternating sides for an even product distribution and hair treatment. 5 minutes later I rinsed, shampooed and did a semi deep conditioning treatment for a couple minutes. I was able to brush my hair easily after a normal towel dry. Easier than usual I would say actually. I saw a lot of people complaining about the smell and I didn’t really notice one until I was rinsing, then again a bit of a metallic smell until it had air dried. It definitely is not nearly as harsh of a smell as any hair coloring/lightening products I’ve ever experienced.
My hair has been through it. Over the past few months I’ve been lightening my level 1 hair at home with 30vol, processing for 35/40 min about twice per month, once twice in a weekend. It’s taken quite a few treatments and I’m almost where I’d like it. Some of it is pretty damaged and brittle. I’ve had a few strands stretch and snap when wet. I bought this product to gently strip out some excess ash toner so that I have a better base to work with since I will be shifting tone to more of a natural blonde color once finished. I wish it had lifted a bit more but I have no doubts it did exactly what it was supposed to and lifted buildup from my rusty water, old layers of demi dye and blue/purple shampoo.

I was having a problem with minerals in the well water making my hair red/brassy to occasionally a greenish tint. I was hoping this treatment would to clear this up. After the first use, which had involved steps, I found no discernable difference. For the steep price, I was a bit disappointed.

I used this product one time. My scalp started burning after about three minutes so I rinsed it out. My hair felt like straw and was so tangled it was nearly impossible to comb through. After this one use my hair started breaking and has continued to do so for two months. I have very long hair that has always been thick and very healthy. I now have about half the thickness I used to have. Throughout my entire head I have hairs that are only a few inches long due to breakage. I’ve started taking hair vitamins and getting various hair strengthening treatments to hopefully avoid having to cut a significant amount of the length off. I understand this product has many five star reviews so perhaps everyone’s hair reacts differently but I 100% would not take the risk.

I had blonde hair. Then someone put a very dark toner over it and it was all brown (sadness). My clarifying shampoos worked a little to lighten the brown but right after using this you could really see the blonde highlights again!! I only used it for 1-2 minutes too. Next time I’ll do the full 5. Smells a little funky but it must be the active ingredients. I’m back in bizness as a blonde !

My hair was a gorgeous level 9 blonde. I decided to try a toner, and Demi-Perm and hair turned a full, mousey, muddy grey color. I was so devastated. I did some research and decided to try the Malibu C Blondes. I followed the instructions exactly, and my hair is back! It completely reversed the muddiness. I highly recommend trying. I only bought 1 packet thinking it was enough, to my surprise it was tiny packet – However, it turns into super thick paste in the hair and covered my whole head! You don’t need much. Follow the instructions! I’m never using anything else for color correcting. 10/10

Thus will definitely brighten your hair! But it made a huge batch of my hair come out, and my scalp felt like it was submitted to a bleach treatment.. that tightened feel. I timed it, 3.5 minutes. It seemed like I had a good bit of shed for about a week. So, be aware of your time, and follow the directions. Look online for videos., it works.. just be careful.
