I have only used it once but it has toned it down. My hair dramatically already, smells and makes hair smooth and clean

I have black hair so because I am going gray now I bought semi permanent black dye to color my grays. It was too dark for my hair. It was actually darker thsn my black hair. So I use this 3 times to light my hair. Works great and now I am using the dark gray color. Lorraine

I got my hair dyed a dark ash brown, with permanent dye. It was too dark for my skin tone. I washed my hair twice and now I like my color. Light brown now.
The smell is amazing. Everyone in my house, after my shower, was saying how good it smelled.

  4. Rachel

I had purple Splat in my hair, and I bought this because I wanted to change colors. I saw good reviews for people that also had splat and it had worked to fade the color. It did fade my purple a little bit, but not nearly enough, even after washing my hair with hot as I could stand water and washing every other day. It was basically just dulling the purple I had, not necessarily fading it. You could still 100% tell it was purple. I ended up bleaching to get the purple out because this wasn’t working like other reviews said. It’s also VERY drying to your hair and mine, while already frizzy, was made even more frizzy by this shampoo. I’ll use the rest of it just to use it, but I won’t ever buy it again. I got my hopes up because other reviews with Splat specifically said it had worked and showed it worked. Guess it all depends on what color you had in your hair prior. It does smell okay, and it lathers really well. That’s about all I like about it.

  5. Alena Carper

Fading shampoo only works on bright colors. Used this to fade color from color depositing shampoo and barely saw a difference on 3rd wash.

  6. Julie Schmidt

As anyone who has dyed their hair blue before knows, it’s next to impossible to remove blue. I’ve done 4 rounds of this shampoo, and each time it takes a significant amount of color out. I will say, use more product, I sectioned my hair into 4 parts and used a quarter sized amount per section. And I did leave it sit for 5-10 minutes vs the recommended 3min on the bottle. This makes my hair Shiney and smells great, it is a little drying but nothing a good leave in conditioner can’t fix. If your hair has damaged from bleaching, I’d say skip a day or two in between using this multiple times. Overall bang for your buck as a chemical free way to remove direct dye.

  7. Nik

This shampoo does work but does not strip the hair I used it a couple times before I touched up my bright colors. It helped fade the old colors so it was easy to dye over.

  8. Lin

Smell is terrible! Which wouldn’t have mattered to me if it worked. I washed twice and it didn’t lighten at all. Also made hair rough and crunchy even after using olaplex.
