After watching many videos and trial and error over the past few months, I finally really like these products. Yes, the gel is crusty, but it scrunches out quickly and easily after my hair is completely dry. I wash and condition my hair using Redkin Frizz Dismiss. I’m the type that shakes my wet head like I am jamming out to heavy metal and squeeze out the water. Then, leaving my hair on the verge of dripping, I put in a Lima bean size bead of Knot today, finger and wide tooth comb it through to evenly coat, squeeze out more water (and some product, yes), then I will finger and Denman brush through about double the amount of gel. After that, I don’t touch my hair. It takes a couple hours to air dry and it looks and feels crunchy while it is drying. After it dries, I do a couple of flipped over scrunches that gets rid of the crust and my hair looks great! My curls are the type to fall out when I sleep on them or brush them, but spritzing or wetting it down for the next 2-3 mornings restores the curl and hold instantly. I only wash my hair once a week, but I will renew the Knot Today on the 4th morning and maybe the gel on the 5th morning. There is still a little frizz, but that is most likely from messing with it than anything.

Natural hair care for those of us with curly coily hair is a journey. Not simply because of all of the different methods but also the many many many different products and how they work with our hair individually. What might work great for someone with a similar texture may not work at all for you. I’m that fuzzy area between 3C-4A and I’ve tried so many products with some good results, some “never use that product again” results. After reading a few reviews on here and seeing a few YouTube videos, as well as thinking back to a friend’s recommendation, I said go ahead and give it a try. Since the website says the products work seamlessly together I went ahead and got the shampoo too.
All I can say is I am completely blown away. I have never had results like this before. Definition, hold, and movement!! Hang time galore! I’m legit wondering what voodoo magic she infused in this stuff. Minimal shrinkage and moisture retained!
These two products work seamlessly together. The knot today leave in conditioner allows effortless detangling (I finger detangle) it does appear white but when you put the custard in your hands and rake it throw your hair the white goes away almost instantly and all you’re life with is clear shine and flawless definition. We all know that what it looks like wet isn’t the full story…. But let me tell you, when it dries… there’s hardly any change! I know this won’t work for everyone but if you’re 3c-4a with normal porosity, THIS IS IT!!!

This product is perfect in my opinion. The combination of the leave in conditioner with the gel creates just the right curl on my 5 year old daughter. I love that the gel doesn’t have alcohol in it so it’s not drying. I will wash her hair in the morning with just a mask and then these 2 products. The curls will stay hard if left to dry naturally and I’d say on average the beautiful curls will hold for about 3 days and still look great, then the inevitable frizz sets in, either way I usually wash her hair at least once a week and use these products. I will continue to purchase.

I love this stuff! I’ve spent my whole life trying to find curly products that don’t dry the everliving crap out of my hair! Turns out, the majority of curly products are FULL of humectants like coconut oil and glycerin which are great for humid places like Florida, but I live in the desert. We have NO humidity. Humectants retain water in the air to hydrate the hair strand, but when there’s no humidity, humectants actually suck moisture right out of your hair! Which is why coconut oil & glycerin are garbage in arid climates. Kinky Curly uses NONE of these drying products and it works!!!! Best detangler ever! Even my son who is 8 loves it for his straight hair! The curling custard is the BEST! Defines the curl with no crunch and leaves your hair soft and shiny! I love it! I’ve FINALLY found the best product for my hair ❤️

The custard has medium hold, it works very well and does not dry my hair out . A little goes a long way.
The leave-in is dope. It Makes my hair extremely soft and manageable- less breakage during detangling.
