This is rich and non-greasy. The first time I used it, I saw such a difference. I now use it once a week. My hair is soft but manageable. Good product for the money. My only issue is the smell. However, it doesn’t linger after shampooing.

The benefits of this oil far outweigh the “smell” people keep complaining about. I personally love the scent of NATURAL products from the Earth’s bounty. It’s a gift that we need to stop being so ungrateful for. This stuff works wonders and it gives my scalp a refreshing feeling, almost like a peppermint oil tingle but not. The scent is dominant but it fades to end up smelling more like a potent Jamaican Black Castor Oil with dark roasted coffee beans and a touch of tahini (sesame seed paste used to make hummus). This 16 ounce size is the best value for the money that I have found on Amazon, but since this ships from where I live I’m going to go find the shop and buy more to do my DIY’s with. I’m in love with this oil and abandoned my chebe grease rotuine on my last wash day. This oil gives hair a silky texture that i simply can’t describe. For me, my scalp and hair strands soak it right up overnight and there’s just a slight oily feel in the morning when i remove my silk scarf. I use this like a hair grease and as a sealant after I shampoo and do my henna mask treatment. I DO NOT WASH THIS OUT! I don’t know WHO those directions are for, but you don’t need to wash this out. If you have straight, non kinky hair I can understand using it as a treatment then shampooing it out. But not for kinky hair unless you are deliberately using it as a pre-poo. But after you do that, still add it back to your scalp and hair and leave it in. I’m a BW with type 4 hair, high porosity and I’m anemic. I was already using natural things to help with hair fall and shedding, like fenugreek and rosemary water but this oil sealed the deal and I’m losing next to no hair now other than normal shedding. Concentrate this oil on your ends too, twist your hair and pin away your ends and just watch it flourish! Makes wash day a pleasure because it keeps tangles at bay too and when water hits your hair it feels so smooth and soft. It is really annoying to see so many people complain about the smell when you can very easily just melt it down and add an essential oil like lavender. But don’t bash a beautiful product with such a rich history just because you’re inexperienced with things that are from nature instead of manufactured with tons of artificial fragrances. This is NOT L’Oreal people! It’s better! If yours came melted, just put it in the fridge it’ll solidify again. Remember, it’s been on a truck all day on it’s way to you, you might melt in that kinda heat too! It’s like coconut oil, solid when cool but liquid when warm. Complaining about that is just weird. Reading the reviews was a bit frustrating because people seem to want everything to smell like their chemically derived lotions and potions and perfumes. Well, this ain’t for you then! Buy a different oil if you’re can’t respect the properties this one has. I love to touch my twists throughout the day and then sniff my hands to take in the aroma of the batana oil. Again, think dark roasted coffee, JBCO, tahini… That’s what it smells like take it or leave it. But if you leave it, you’ll never know what you’re missing! Bought a second 16 ounce jar last night because it’s on sale for Prime Day. Whole family will be using it on hair and body and i will be retwisting my son’s locs with this and rosemary water. Will post more pictures in 6 months as I’ve only used this for 2 weeks but can already tell a difference in hair density.

I didn’t use it as directed. I wet my hair in the shower, placed the product on my ends, and kept it on for MAYBE 10min. Before washing. It smells like coffee and cigarette breath or like.. stale cigarette butts put out in old coffee. I shampooed 3 times afterwards and the smell wouldn’t go away.. my husband said it didn’t smell THAT bad and my MIL said the same but to me? It was just yucky smelling. HOWEVERRRRR I say all of that to say… I let my hair air dry and wrapped it in a bun to keep the stank away from my face and woke up this morning to the silkiest hair I’ve ever had. My hair is incredibly soft and looks healthy this morning?? I had full intentions on returning because the smell was that awful to me BUT with these results I’m thinking I am going to give it a few more tries doing it the way it is recommended and wrap it up in a plastic cap to keep the STANK contained and will see if I can handle it then. (I’m being harsh on the smell, probably more than it deserves, because I do no fragrances in my home.. so, I’ve become very sensitive to smells. So – if you are someone sensitive to fragrances… this review is for you!)

I use this batana oil in my hair, and have notices a difference in the thickness and texture. It smells a little bit like popcorn if I had to describe it, but not a strong scent, it’s mild. Easy to use, has made a difference for me, I’d highly recommend this product

Four stars only because it’s only been a month and here is what I have noticed:
My curl pattern is back-curls are springy and super soft
I don’t use as much product and my curls are a lot less frizzy
Not sure about growth yet but my hair “feels” less thin, maybe cause it’s more moisturized

Yes, it has a strong smell of coffee but it’s not horrible and it fades after about an hour. I use it like a leave in conditioner, put about a half teaspoon in my palm and put it on my edges and scalp. Whatever is left I jus put in my hair, stays in all day and wash and repeat the next day.

This is a good product if you can tolerate the smell after the initial opening of the container. It smells like a mixture of strong cigarette smoke and strong black coffee. After that I found that the smell became less intense. I purchased it to help with some thin areas around the front edges of my hair line. Most of the reviews that I read prior to my purchase were good with the exception of them mentioning the not so pleasant smell. So I decided to give it a try, and I am so glad that I did because since the first time I applied it to my hair and scalp, I have noticed significant growth as well as thickness around the edges of my hair line. Although the price is a little costly, the product contrainer is a nice size for the price so I was pleased with that. The product straight from the container has a thick consistency but melts and absorbs quickly, so a little will go a long way. This product I am convinced will continue to improve my hair condition on my journey to obtain healthier hair from the results I’ve seen after only two applications. I found that it works better for me if I apply it as an overnight therapy prior to hair wash day. The smell takes time to get use to so if you can manage to get pass that like I did the I would definitely recommend this product for you.

The product smells horrible, like what the other users mentioned. You will have to put up with the smell for as long as you leave it in your hair and even after you washed it out. Takes at least 2 washes to get everything out. Have yet to see any results after 2 uses but will continue using it and hopefully I will grow more hair!!

NOT REAL BATANA OIL. Feels more like Shea butter, hard and difficult to melt on your hand and too pale to have any actual batana oil. Real batana oil is really dark, like burnt caramel and melts quickly on your finger. This is waxy, hard and will not melt easily. REAL BATANA OIL IS OILY and will turn liquid if it gets warm. It’s also expensive. Don’t think you’re getting a bargain. If it’s cheap-it’s NOT the real thing
Some have coffee in them to give it the smell. Look for one like AU NATURAL ORGANICS or BOTANICS
