I like how my hair turned out and how easy it is to use a solid type shampoo and conditioner. I wish they left a nice fragrance, but there is none. I like not having to bother with bottles and will be very useful for travel as well as convenient at home. I plan on ordering again.

Why did my shampoo arrived mouldy?

Let me start by saying these are good products. They smell good, they leave my hair feeling lightweight, moisturized, and clean. And they will last a while, I wash my hair once maybe twice a week and they haven’t shrunk much.

They lose a star for me because by the time I’ve lathered the shampoo and conditioner in, I’ve more than exceeded the amount of water I was trying to save by switching from liquid s&c.

It’s unfortunate, I wanted to try and make little changes for the environment but my hair is just too thick for it. They do come in a completely recyclable package if I remember correctly, so I think the company is environmentally conscious. I can’t speak for the products they use IN the bars, but mine (the blue ones) smell pleasantly of lemon – not the artificial sweet smelling lemon but true lemon.

Give them a try if you’re wanting to, they’re good products, just not for the sheer amount of hair I have.

I practiced cosmetology for over 30 years. I am not a chemist so this is a review of the
visual results I saw after using four of the formulas over several months. I was shocked how good the HiBAR product and customer service is.
I contacted the company by email with questions and received a prompt response.

This is a list of what I watch out for when trying new products and what happened when I used HiBAR.

    Over-the-counter shampoos
usually seem ok at first but
quickly build up, cause damage or allergic reactions.

Many of the eco-friendly shampoos don’t lather or leave the nasty residue after the first use.

Even expensive salon products can build up over time. Many
are heavy. Allergic reactions can still happen due to all the color and frangrance they use to get your attention.

I had none of these issues with. HiBAR. It gave lots of lather. My hair looked healthy and shiny.
    No itch… no residue…no damage.

    I purchased the sampler first.

    The GREEN….
seemed to be for normal hair.
I think it will work for most hair types. It cleans well. It conditions without being heavy. If you’re trying HiBAR for the first time this is probably a safe bet.

    The BLUE……
seamed to be for dry hair.
It’s a heavier conditioning without being greasy. It pulled the curl out of my fine hair but that’s not hard to do. It will be good for people that need smoothing. I would try this if you have thick hair, wiry hair or really dry hair. This will work well if you flat iron. I would try it on tight curls or if you want wavy hair to air dry straighter.

    The YELLOW….
seems to be a thickening formula. It left my hair dry. That’s not a bad reflection on the shampoo. Thickening salon formulas work the same way. They usually have a higher pH to blow out the cuticle for a fuller look. I only use thickening formulas on clients with thinning hair. I’d try this if coverage is your main concern. If your hair is thin, fine and short you may like this. Otherwise I would use the green formula and only condition the ends for fine hair.

    The PINK…….
    curly hair formula.
    It’s exceeded my expectations.
It gave more curl to my fine hair. It knocked out the frizz. It left my hair shiny and conditioned without being heavy. You may want to try this for any hair type if you’re looking for a bouncy conditioned style. I wouldn’t be surprised if it worked well on straight styles on some textures.
If you have tight curls or thick hair I’d also try the blue formula to see which gives the effect you want.

The shampoo and conditioner bars smell great, or at least the shampoo bar does but it’s hard to tell for certain about the conditioner without getting my nose right up next to it as it doesn’t produce much of a lather. (the shampoo bar doesn’t have a strong lather, but it does get a little sudsy) This makes it hard to tell how much I have on my hands and how much I’m actually using once it’s in my hair.
I do like that these bars don’t have any of the comm on ingredients that I’ve found strip my hair in the past leaving it dry, frizzy, or causing me to need extra washes or with dandruff, but while these bars don’t cause me hair problems they don’t do anything particularly special for it either. After using them for a few weeks (usually 3 times a week) my hair doesn’t appear to have any improvements with volume or be any softer than with any other product.
I wouldn’t say they were worth the money and I personally wouldn’t purchase a second time but unless my hair/scalp starts reacting poorly to them I’ll probably use them until I run out or get tired of the extra effort with the conditioner.

I ordered the HiBAR shampoo & conditioner because I came across them in my search for products that are plastic-free. I was skeptical. With regular liquid shampoo it takes a fair amount of effort to actually make sure the lather reaches all of my scalp, especially at the back of the head/base of the neck.

Well. This bar shampoo is better. I can get a lather across my entire scalp faster without any excess falling/running off. I’m still learning that I don’t need to use as much as I feel like I need to. I tend to have oily hair and appreciate that I’m able to apply the conditioner to my hair without it sinking down to my scalp, so I get the smoothness without the scalp build-up.

Plus! Not being a liquid they are better for air travel! I’ll be able to avoid buying/using small disposable plastic bottles and will probably buy another set to have in my suitcase for trips!
