I bought this after searching and searching for product to put on my hair to reduce frizz…..Since I have natural curl this has been a problem all my life. This really works great! I has a hold as well. I do wish the curlsmith items smelled nicer. Some of them have a pleasant smell but most don’t. But I do love the product none the less.

Note: I give one star based on my experience with this product. Everyone’s hair is different so you may have better experience.
My hair type is 2a/2b mix (mostly 2a), low porosity, not chemical or heat treated, hair strand type is medium-thick mix, and quite long (falls to my elbow). Hair is soft to the touch, but gets frizzy (curls and flyways) almost as soon as it dries/ exposed to humidity.
I tried this product in different conditions (changing the shampoo, leave-in etc) and amounts, never saw any improvement. The only noticable change happened when I fiddled with the amount used, and that’s described below.
When I tried the recommended amount there was no cast to crunch. After drying it felt like each of my hair strand (note: strand, not lock) were covered in sticky mud (it didn’t look bad, but felt really rough to the touch). And it was frizzier than ever.
Then I tried with more product because I thought I’d need more because of my thick hair. Now there are was a cast, but it was not the type I could scrunch out. Maybe I’m doing it wrong but locks of my hair felt like they have been laminated/stuck together with glue. This product does “hold” the some curls I had, but only by being sticky, and not by locking in the moisture.
The smell of the product is like some scented erasers I had used in school. As a child I liked that scent in pencil erasers, but not interested in my hair smelling like that. It’s not a nauseating chemical smell, and it’s not a herbal/natural smell. More like a sharp sweet smell. I would have tolerated it if the product worked for my hair. Still, if you are fragrance sensitive, better give this product a miss.

manchmal schwer, mit dem Gel zu arbeiten. es dauert eine Weile, bis man weiß, was man beachten sollte. aber all in all muss ich sagen, dass ich kein anderes Produkt gefunden habe mit so starkem Halt. Es ist ein Produkt, das nicht jedem sein Ding ist, ich benutze es aber sehr gerne und bin eher frustriert, wann immer ich ein anderes Produkt ausprobiere.
Wenn man vorher mit Leave-in oder einer Lockencreme arbeitet, kann es sein, dass das Gel seinen Cast nicht bilden kann. Dann bleibt es ganz unangenehm klebrig, der Cast kann sich nicht bilden. Was immer man also vorher benutzt, nur in ganz geringen Mengen auftragen oder komplett weg lassen.
Beim Einarbeiten von diesem Gel sollten die Haare nass sein. Also wirklich wirklich nass. Und ich benutze recht viel von dem Gel, weil ich so die besten Ergebnisse erziele. Bei etwa brustlangen 3b/c Locken reichen die 236ml nur für 3,5, höchstens 4 ganze Waschtage.
Es lässt sich nicht vermeiden, dass Produkt auf Schultern und dem Nacken landet, wenn man viel Produkt nutzt und die Haare dabei nass sind. Nach dem fönen wasche ich mir also die Rückstände nochmal kurz unter der Dusche ab indem ich meine Haare kurz hochstecke.
Solange die Haare noch nass sind, sind sie klebrig aber wenn sie vollständig trocken sind, bildet sich ein wahnsinnig starker Cast. Wenn man den raus knetet sind die Haare weich, verlieren dabei aber ihre Form nicht. Wenn man die Haare dann nochmal befeuchtet zum auffrischen, bildet sich der Cast erneut, ohne dass man wieder Produkt auftragen muss.
Wenn ich meine Haare fingercoile mit diesem Gel, sehen sie selbst an Tag 7 noch wie frisch gestyled aus. Ich nehme mir also an einem Tag in der Woche Zeit dafür und habe eine Woche lang Ruhe und muss sie meistens in dieser Zeit höchstens einmal kurz auffrischen.
Was mich aber sehr stört ist der Preis. Ich gebe 25€/Monat für ein einziges Produkt aus. Ich finde es außerdem schade, dass es viele Curlsmith Produkte auch in größeren Flaschen gibt, nur dieses hier nicht.
Wer starken Halt und Definition sucht, dem würde ich empfehlen, es auszuprobieren.

You don’t actually use this in the shower – but you do use on wet hair. It gives my naturally curly (with tendency to frizz) great hold. A firm favourite.

After trying 20+ different products and mixing 4-5 products to get the results I wanted, I finally found the one and only winner! This product is amazing! You only need a very small amount, and I suggest diluting it with water. I finally have zero frizz, even after several days.
This product has a hard hold, and is crunchy. It holds beautifully, and controls frizz better than any product I’ve used before. You can use this product right in the shower, without towel drying your hair.
To keep your natural curl pattern, comb through your hair with your fingers, then apply this product while your hair is wet. Dry naturally for best results.

Defines curls nicely. A little goes a longgg way. Leaves a white cast sometimes on my dark brown hair. Doesn’t diffuse into softer, more voluminous curls. It cause my hair to be very stiff.

I don’t normally write reviews. But straight after the first use of this I’ve rushed to write one. I have high porosity, thick, corse curls that do not like to be tamed or defined and certainly have a mind of their own and do what they want regardless of how many gels or creams I apply.
I bought the 59ml to try as I couldn’t justify the £24 bottle when most gels are useless on my hair.
One use of this as directed straight from the shower with soaking wet hair; I thought “yeah right! My hair will look like a lions mane!” But oh my goodness!! My hair is soft, tamed and really defined. My curls are bouncy, the gel leaves no cast in the hair but an amazing hold and ZERO FRIZZ!!!!
My curls have never looked better. 100% a new staple and holy grail for me.
If you have thick and coarse curls I’d definitely recommend this product to you. I’m over the moon with my new find.

The consistency of this product has slip when you use it on soaking wet hair. Otherwise on dry or semi-wet hair there’s not much slip and the consistency is tacky/slightly sticky. The smell of this product is so amazing, it’s sweet and has hints of floral
I used this product in combination with The Doux foam and twist out and there’s a slight crunch but the cast breaks easily with no flaking and that’s the best part. Nothing worse than styling your hair to find out the product you used left a flaky crusty residue in your hair.
I have low porosity- 4C hair that’s color treated.

Y’all- this stuff is LEGIT. I swear I have used almost every product and ‘plop’ method and this stuff makes my hair SUPER shiny and curly. When I do nothing to my hair, it’s flat at the roots, a slight wave- like 1- with a little frizz. I don’t even look like I have the same head of hair after even one use! I also appreciate that the scent is light and not off putting, kinda gives a hint of a fruity vibe. The best thing about it, besides working so well, is that you use it in the shower and I don’t have to get my hands goopy applying product after getting out of the shower. I bought a mini to test it but I will definitely be getting more!!!

I love this product so much it holds my hair perfectly, it just works so well the quality is a 10/10, it’s a bit heavyweight and sticky but it’s a gel and that’s what expected, it doesn’t dry out my hair either
