I used this product once a week for a few weeks because my hair stylist was on vacation. I think it helped just a little bit with brassyness but not worth it it was extremely drying and ruined my hair texture (frizz, brittle)

I love it! Smells great and works well, doesn’t leave my hair feeling dry either. My previous blue shampoo still had a purple hue to it (which was fine but I didn’t feel like it was the best) and this stuff is bright freaking blue. Great price for the quality and will continue to use!!

I ordered Joico’s blue shampoo to give it a try and compare it with their purple version. I was sent the conditioner in error but then sent the shampoo free without the need to return the conditioner. So this review is my experience using both the Joico Color Balance Blue Shampoo and Conditioner.

First, my hair. I’ve been letting my natural hair grow out for the past 10 months after almost 30 years of coloring it to hide silvers. When I began this process I had my stylist put in high and low lights and use toner to mask my grow out. I wish I’d not done that though, as the processing – particularly the lightening of my naturally dark brown hair – really fried it! I tried for several months to deep condition, but eventually had my hair cut shorter and after three sessions of toner stopped any processing of my hair. Much to my surprise and delight, my new hair growth is soft, shiny and curlier than I ever expected. Unfortunately, though, the remaining colored & lightened hair tends to get brassy, thus my use of purple and with this product, blue shampoos, and conditioners to add an ashy tone to eliminate the red-orange ones.

As for Joico Color Balance Blue, I tried it because I was hoping it would be even better than their purple, which works OK for me. I also use Joico’s Color Butter in Titanium to add more ash tones when I’m feeling like I want something a little darker than my blondish-brown ends.

Joico Blue is very blue and that is good! The deep tones neutralize blorange and did work on my hair to take out the brass. Surprisingly to me, it did not work better than the purple version, or rather it worked different.y. The blue was less drying to my hair – both the shampoo and the conditioner, which I really liked. As for its ability to neutralize orange brassiness – it was OK but seemed less effective than the purple. Maybe it’s the phase of my hair’s grow out or the lightening that’s been done on my naturally brown-silver hair that was colored dark brown before that, but the resulting color after using the Joico Color Balance Blue was a flat, dull, non-descript blonde brown.

So I liked that the Joico Color Balance Blue Shampoo and conditioner worked well together to moisturize my hair and that it did neutralize brassiness. What I wish was better was that it left behind a dull, flat tone that looked somewhat unnatural – even more than my colored hair! The purple was better in terms of its coloring (toning) effects on my hair, but it was more drying. I’m not sure why this is and I’d have to say that the only way to know which one is for you is to give them a try. I will continue to use this product as it did not harm my hair, didn’t smell bad and while not exactly as I’d hoped, it’s pretty good.

Mi sembra un buon prodotto ma l’ho usato solo una volta finora.

This shampoo is turquoise and does take out the orange that brunettes get when they bleach their hair. It did a wonderful job of removing the red shade out of my blonde highlights. It also did not dry out my hair. I left it on for 30 minutes and it was magic.

I’ve heard about this shampoo for a long time; A close friend of mine swears by it. Now that my hair is lightened, I decided to try it. I have very long, dark, and straight Asian hair. Of course, lightening dark hair will lead to brassy strands. So, blue shampoo is great for in between lightening and toning sessions. The scent is fine and not as chemically as I was worried about. My hair is a bit less brassy after one wash, and it will probably make more of a difference after a few more uses. It’s not the most moisturizing shampoo (that’s not its main job anyway), but my hair feels soft and moisturized after using it with my regular conditioner (Virtue brand). I say this shampoo is worth a try if you have naturally dark hair that’s balayaged. I can’t speak for someone who has lightened their hair so much to a blonde or platinum color (they should probably use a purple shampoo), but I feel that this blue shampoo helps dark hair that’s lightened a few shades and is described accurately on the bottle.

NO allergic reaction to this product BUT the banana smell…. I’ve never met somebody who is allergic or intolerant to bananas like me. But I’ve been puking from them since I was a kid. I say this because I’m so sensitive to the smell now cause it’s a bit nauseating… I’ve tried this twice and I’m hoping it works. But it smells like straight bananas. I wish I would’ve known haha so just giving a heads up. I’m out of the shower after using it the second time and I can smell it so strong.

I have naturally black hair and have always had caramel highlights/balayage on and off for years. I usually end up going back to the salon to get my hair fixed or back to a darker shade BUT this product actually worked. It made all the orangy/brassy tones in my hair go away in just one wash. I had no issues with the consistency of the product I actually like that it is thicker and I followed it up with an in-shower hair mask.

I put it on wet hair for 30 mins and my hair bright brassiness died down after one wash. I’ve been told by my friends to try put it on dry hair as your revive better results so I’m going to try it next time.

Worked really well will be buying again once it runs out.

I have been using this shampoo for a couple of years now and I won’t try anything else. I love the smell – it reminds me of a shampoo or soap I had as a child but can’t place the exact scent. It’s very faint and you can’t really smell it unless you hold it to your nose. I have brown hair with blond balayage and I use the shampoo every two or three nights and as long as I’m consistent with it, it works wonders. I usually lather my hair and leave for five minutes then apply another coat to sit in my hair, then wait a few more minutes and rinse it really well. This shampoo is not overly moisturizering but after conditioning it feels fine. Your hands might have a blue tint to them after using but it rinses off instantly, just be sure to wipe any splatters or blue water off the tub or shower. I haven’t left it sitting so I don’t know, but I feel letting the residue sit will definitely stain.

I highly recommend this and if you’re on the fence, I say go for it. You can spend $10 on a cheap drug store brand and risk it not doing its job or you can put $15 with it to get a huge bottle that does a great what it is supposed to do.
