I wanted a paddle brush for my fine, high density, curly hair, but every regular paddle brush I tried was too big for me. I’m so glad Denman makes a smaller version of their paddle brush. I use it after I put in my detangler/leave-in to halo with tangles. It does not pull my hair, and seems to be very gentle on it.
I would recommend the smaller brush to anyone with shorter to medium length fine hair. I like it so much I bought a back-up, just in case, lol

If anyone is wondering I’ve confirmed with the denman company that this is an authentic denman ultra brush. And the brush is great for detangling super thick and curly hair without breakage.

I have coarse wavy hair that thanks to some health problems also is very prone to breaking, and worse, tangles with just a slight movement. For years I used the same old hairbrush but hated how my hair turned out, same with every comb I’ve used. I had some success with one wide toothed comb, but my hair still looked ragged. And whenever I had actual knots in my hair? It can take hours to detangle and a lot of leave-in conditioner to work with in it too.
And then there was the Denman.
Already with the first use, any and all tangles were very easily eliminated with just a simple brushing and it made my hair actually look soft and together. The ragged look is gone without having to even trim the ends. And gone is the sound of ripping hair – it just smoothly pulls through knots. It does break the gel casts (like any brush would), but for once I can just brush my hair and go without needing to really style it.
The only downside is that the brush is a little expensive in my opinion for a brush, but I also don’t see myself needing a different hairbrush at all after this. And given this is my third hairbrush for my entire life, averaging that price out, it is still rather cheap.

I had my first Denman 15 years ago and bought it in Dadeland Mall, Miami. It was getting old eventhough it still looked new when I clean. But it was time to buy a new one. So, I wanted to buy the same brand. This one had also smaller parts and it is so easy brush my hair. Better than the old one. I never pull my hair. It brushes so softly and so comfortable, indeed. It is light, easy to carry – You can brush your hair wet or dry. I am so happy with this purchase.

It’s a good brush. It stands out compared to the options I saw at the store (such as the kitsch and wetbrush.) Most of those had far more rigid cushions, but this brush as an awesome flexible, soft cushion. The softer the cushion, the better it feels on the head in my experience. I also liked that the bristles don’t have a huge ball-end, and they’re very sturdy, while other brushes have flimsier bristles. The bristle design is less prone to catching on hair, but I wouldn’t use this as a wet detangling brush bc they are so firm.
The disappointing thing is the quality of the brush body at this price. Feels like very cheap plastic and the shape of the handle isn’t pleasant to hold. People say this might be a fake, but I really didn’t see anything that might indicate that it’s a knock-off. I’ve read that Denman’s quality has been going downhill, at least in the US. I got the brush in matte black, so maybe this particular color plastic feels extra crappy. I wish Denman put more effort into the material & design of the handle/body so that it was ergonomic.

I watched a YouTube video by CurlMaven and she recommended this brush. Up to that point I was using a special wide tooth comb that had tines that crossed. I will never go back to my comb again. Even more, I won’t ever use another brush again. This brush is awesome! It is soft and doesn’t break my hair. It is also amazing at detangling my daughter’s hair, which is really saying something. I only brush our hair when it’s wet since we have curly hair, so I can say this brush is perfect for wet hair, but it’s also supposed to be good for dry hair too. And it’s supposed to be good for all hair types. It’s truly a great all around brush. To understand what I mean, you have to just try this brush!
