I am going to premise this review by giving a little background about my hair.

I am a natural 3B ringlet curls girl with VERY soft, fine hair but I have A LOT of it. I have 95% 3B curls with some 3A looser curls around the nape of my neck and ears. My hair holds a curl very easily and I don’t really have to do any major styling to achieve my ringlets. The one very random, major issue I have with my hair is unlike other ringlet curl girls, my hair does not clump together naturally at the top of my hair or have any sort of curl definition if I do not use a brush to style it. However, the length of my hair clumps all by itself. Wash Go’s don’t exist to me and I HATE the outcome. This is a more recent issue honestly and I am not sure if my curl pattern is changing or if its due to hard water damage. My hair is super healthy and I would say its a medium porosity level. It likes both protein and moisture and I really don’t lack in either one. I never need more than a cream and a gel to style my hair and I always defuse it. I have used the 7 row and 10 row Denman in the past and while they did clump my hair, they did nothing for my root issue.

I give you all this info so you have a basis of what my issues are and where my hair is at. Hopefully it will help you determine whether this brush is for you. My major goals with this brush: more clumping, less need for finger coiling looser areas, faster styling and to achieve more definition and clumping from the roots of my hair so it matches the lengths of my hair. This brush did just that!

The other 2 Denman brushes I own are good but they didn’t have tension I needed. I section off my hair and take about 2″ diagonal sections pulling up and away from my face to create my clumps from root to tip. With this brush I am able to achieve that even clumping and curl pattern I am looking for. The tension on this brush is great and makes styling super easy and fast. I find the density and combination of different bristles grips the sections better. I style my hair soaking wet with my cream in it and re-wet to scrunch the gel in once I’m done brush styling. The result juicy, even, very defined curls.

Who I think this brush is for:
Soft, thicker hair textures ( Wouldn’t recommend for coarser hair)
Those who have trouble with clumping
Girls curl training for ringlet curls
Girls who style on VERY wet hair

    Who it’s not for:
Girls who are not focused on definition
Girls for Focused on Volume – with more definition comes less volume
Coarser hair types- the brush may not be strong enough or may even rip your hair
Curly girls who have naturally well clumped hair
Wavy hair girls who don’t need clumping

My one biggest call out with this brush is that I think that it will be something I have to repurchase at least 1-2 times a year. My thick hair is already starting to widen the outer bristles of the brush from the tension my hair places on it. For the results I’m getting though I don’t really care.

I have also tried the “Spornette Large Cushion Boar and Nylon Bristle” here on amazon and can say it may work for less dense curly girls as well. It wasn’t dense enough to create the tension my hair needed to clump and left a weird part it the back of my hair that looked like the red sea separating every time I used it. It was super light weight and a really great brush for those who do not style in diagonal sections though.

    Hope this helps!

Very easy to handle, gentle to hair. I love it!!

  4. Sbmargo

Feels so great on your scalp and smooth out my hair beautifully.

  5. Framboises

Hochwertige Verarbeitung. Die Haare sind nach dem Bürsten glatter und seidiger, weniger Friss.

Die Naturborsten sind angenehm, die längeren (Nylon?) pieksen etwas, Eher nichts für sensible Menschen/empfindliche Kopfhaut.

  6. This is a great brush, very easy to handle, gentle to my hair. I love it!

Era o que eu esperava do produto.

  7. Ashlea Vanderwall

This is the best for me right out of the shower. I have very fine long hair + it takes forever brushing out with a regular brush. I love using this wet for getting out tangles but I also love using this on dry hair as it conditions the hair too!

  8. Sbmargo

This brush is as good as ones at twice or 3 times the price. I’ve used a Denman paddle styling brush for years, and it holds up to heat really well.
Lately my hair has become dry and much longer (no haircut in Calif quarantine), so I even had split ends for the first time. I ordered a pure boar bristle brush, but it was way too soft to go through my hair; it wasn’t reaching the scalp to distribute the oils. This one is almost too soft, but the plastic bristles mostly go through to the scalp, especially if I brush it in sections.
I’ve seen complaints in the reviews that it hurts the scalp. I like the sensation of the sharp bristles, but I can see if someone has a tender head it might hurt. I consider it a stimulating massage.
It has made my longer hair much softer and less flyaway. I’d compare this to the Kent or other more expensive English brushes.
To clean, I first get most of the hair out with a comb, then I put it face down in warm water with ammonia, just up to the rubber pad. After a 10-15 min soak, just rinse off with warm water.

For a natural way to smooth and shine your hair, this boar bristle hair brush is a great choice. It helps distribute oils from the scalp, leaving hair feeling healthier and looking glossy. Plus, it’s gentle enough for daily use.

  10. Lena

I cut the plastic bristles because it was impossible to use the brush without injuring the scalp. I do use it now, but to tell you I am happy I bout this 55$ brush – no, absolutely not.

  11. S.E

Really brings a shine to my hair and helps it stay stong

I am so glad that I purchased this brush for my hair, it really feels good against my scalp. I still have my GOODY brush that my mom use to use on my hair when I was a little girl at the age of 10 & that brush still works really good on my hair but it is a small one that is really good for my edges when I want to slick them down and put my hair in a bun or ponytail. However, I purchased the regular 9 row Denman brush that I would see in MANY of the YouTube videos from Sally’s when I was looking at brushes and I was happy that they had it, I needed a brush that didnt have those small ball things on the end of them but after awhile they came off and started SNAGGING my dang hair making it painful to use my brush so I needed to buy me a new one that was not a bristle brush and that’s how I got my current Denman 9 row brush. When I received that one I was so happy because it didn’t have those dang balls on them that would fall off after awhile when your not paying attention or noticing them. Anyways, I was online looking at other brushes with bristles because I wrap my hair at night and its good to use a boar bristle brush after you wrap your hair with a comb or my 9 row Denman to lay it down more & I came across this particular Denman bristle brush. I saw EVERY review as a good one on here and another website and EVERYBODY said that it was a wonderful bristle brush to use on your hair & that when brushing it really got to the scalp of your hair and distributed the oils down the strands of your hair. I thought that would be great because I am 100% natural with 4A hair and my hair is long dang near ARMPIT length so I choose this medium one instead of the large one since my hair is past my shoulders but not brastrap length as of yet. The seller has very fast shipping because I received it in my mailbox the very next day after ordering it here online and I don’t have Amazon Prime so I thought that was really good, soon as I opened it I brushed my hair back fixing the flyaways that my current ponytail had and it felt wonderful. I’m very pleased with this purchase and I love BOTH of my Denman Brushes, they were both around $15 but I have no problem paying that price for a brush that is going to work great on my beautiful hair strands.
