I originally gave this one star. Until my wife smelled it. She thinks it’s amazing. I was extremely disappointed at the size of the jar. However I’ve noticed I only need to use a 1/4 of the amount I normally do on a daily basis! I will probably switch to this permanently. I see this tiny bottle lasting a very long time and the scent grows on you. Also my wife says my hair looks thicker and fuller! Really high quality product if you wanna stay away from alcohol and water products.

Yes, this product is more expensive than others in the same category. The difference is that this has all natural ingredients, and isn’t adding to your toxic load. Excellent product, well worth the price, and leaves me content knowing that I am doing my best to reduce toxic exposure in my body.

This product is pretty good quality, just like most clays. Im usually a fan of clay but this one missed the mark for me with the hold and look, almost makes your hair frizzy and is more difficult to style. Because of this, it’s unusable for me. I like a clean look that other clays give, not frizzy. This company has the market cornered with having minimal ingredients, so this product is wildly overpriced for 2oz.

So I’ve seen a few people complaining that the “rugged scent” is “like incense.”
If you open the jar and whiff, it 100% smells like a candle.
But it’s pleasant once it’s in your hair. You get light whiffs of the juniper and Cuban during the day. For the first 5 minutes, it’s stronger. But then it’s just a mild refreshing scent that sticks with you.
As for the actual quality of the Clay Pomade, compared to a true matte clay, it’s ever so slightly shinier. It’s not a natural shine. I’d describe it more as dull than pure matte. Matte, for me, is to where your hair is dry and makes it a little lighter. This one gives it just a little dark tone, not much (Not shiny, just a little darker). As for the hold, it holds strong at first, but you may need to touch it up a few times (It’ll lose its hold a bit throughout the day). I think this is mostly because it’s beeswax. It dissolves a bit. So the hold is strong at first, then more of a medium hold after about 6 hours, at which point sometimes combing it fixes the hold oddly enough, or just a dab more clay will fix it. Overall, I think this is a decent clay, and the slight cons are worth not having a bunch of harsh chemicals on your head all day. It’s pricey stuff, but you don’t need much of it, just about the tip of your index, maybe two or three more dabs.
