This gel is excellent. Its a very large bottle and I need to use very little. The thing I love is that it does not weigh down my hair. This is important because, like many with curly hair, I use more than one product. I also use a leave in conditioner and curl creme before applying this gel. The gel gives hold without crunch. My hair is still able to move/bounce. This gel does not leave my hair crunchy, but I do ensure not to use too much. No flake either. This is a GREAT product from a GREAT company!

I am so surprised that this has heat protection up to 450 degrees farenheight . I was super pleased with this because I diffuse my hair with a hair dryer using heat.
It also holds hair curls decently well. I would improve the smell because there is definitely a smell and it is strong but not very pleasant (not terrible but would pick lighter scent). I have to experienced weird residue yet, so that was nice. There also was not any weird greasy feel or that white flakiness, so again, yayyyy!

I have long, finely textured, messy curly hair. All natural, no perm and no dye. I used to use Joico products back when I used to dye my hair, but this one is made just for me right now, or so it seems. The product is delightfully scented and contains algae oil which is something my finely textured hair responds well to. It does work well as a frizz tamer and I employ it using this method – I put about a dime size dollop into my palms, rub them together to sort of prime it, then I comb it through my hair with my fingers. This simple method does a great job of taming flyaways and other annoying problems I struggle with on a daily basis. There’s a lot of tiny writing on the back of the tube but unfortunately my vision is not good enough to read any of it, lol. This large sized tube will last me a LONG while. Great quality and just the thing to help my hair look tamed and styled here in a part of the country where there’s ultra high humidity. Recommended!

I ordered the Joico Curls Like Us Define & Seal Curl Defining Gelee | For Curly Hair | Reduce Frizz | Medium Hold | Heat Protection up to 450°F | With Moringa Seed & Algae Oil | 8.5 Fl Oz, And I’m on the fence if I like it or not. It’s a big container, so this will last a while. I have pretty complicated hair, and not much out there makes it happy. It’s half naturally curly and half straight, and if I don’t do anything with it, it looks like fried wheat, And if I try to scrunch it and make it curly, it’s not curly evenly because half of it is short and the rest is past the middle of my back. I lost nearly half my hair several years ago because of not getting enough iron, and I wasn’t emotionally ready to cut it. So the stuff underneath is several inches shorter. Because that part is shorter, it is incredibly curly compared to the longer stuff. This product made it so curly it looked like a perm, but only the shorter stuff And my bangs that go down to my chin. My hair is pretty thin and fine, and it just didn’t really feel healthy with this product in there as it didn’t feel moisturized, and it actually felt and looked kind of frizzy. I did feel it felt a little bit thicker which is a bonus. If my hair was in a ponytail and I just scrunched the ponytail, I think this would be fine, but for overall product on my hair, I didn’t really love it. I do like this brand in general, though, thank you.

This is such a great gel for frizz. I wasnt expecting much but it has done a wonderful job that I am going to need to check out getting more. These are kinda pricy but I think worth it if they are going to be so effective. Never heard of Joico but im gonna have to keep a look out for them

I already use some Joico products. So I was more than happy to try this. I t dried my hair out so bad. Puffed it out. Gave it a weird texture feel. Made it impossible to brush or comb through. I have never had this problem with a gel before.I do not like it at all.

The instructions on the label remind you to scrunch to break up the gel cast (crunchy feeling) after everything is dry. If you don’t your hair will feel dry, crispy, and crunchy because you’re not using the product correctly. Some hair types can benefit from scrunching out the gel cast with a bit of lightweight oil.
I have Caucasian hair with a combination of 2C/3A curls and waves. It is fairly long, about halfway down my back. My hair is thin and fine and looks really bad when I air dry without any product. This gel makes my hair look nice when air dried. I applied about a dime size amount. A lot goes a long way. I applied from roots to ends, but mostly the mid to end lengths. After it air dried, it was a little bit crunchy and looked really nice after I scrunched out the crunchy gel cast. My curls had pretty decent hold and looked nice the next day as well. I feel like this is really lightweight once it dries and doesn’t make my hair look greasy or heavy and it provides a bit of shine.
