I am an Indian guy with thick coarse frizzy slightly wavy hair that is 4 inches long and I do not want pin straight hair, so my review will be biased. You do not get a lot of product in the bottle, but I will not use it up fast since I don’t plan on growing out my hair more than 6 inches.

The product really does its job of smoothing the hair and reducing so much frizz. However, this product could use more curl reduction if someone has curlier or more stubborn hair than me. I have hair on the right part of my head that is stubborn to straighten with my heated comb and the keratin gave it a little boost on the first day, but after I showered and washed my hair, all my hair straightened easier, but not all the way to “pin straight”. I got it to be the perfect texture that I wanted. Also, the instructions tell you to wait three days to wash your hair, but I only waited one day just to experiment and the keratin still lasted in my hair. It did not wear off as most reviews said, but it did the same thing that usual keratin treatments would do where your hair would fluff up after the first wash, so your hair will not look flat. I just did my 2nd wash today, and it did feel a bit knotty in some areas, so comb your hair out, but it still felt like the keratin is there and once my hair dried, it did not feel knotty.

The application of the product is really easy with simple instructions. The bottle came in a little box, so no complex package or no ridiculous things for you to struggle to open up. The smell of the product is a nice chocolatey smell and it is a little strong, but not as strong as people say it is. Best result is after you wash your hair and do your straightening.

Just like any keratin treatment, use sulfate free shampoo and conditioners. You are usually not supposed to put hair gels or other products in your hair, but I did it and the keratin is still there. I use a sulfate free tea tree shampoo from Chi and a sulfate free conditioner from Herbal Essences. For styling, I use the Biosilk leave in conditioner then I put a sulfate free TGIN rose water hair gel.

Before I tried this product, I tried agave oil treatment (I was scared of keratin) and it burned a little and felt like it had weight, so overall, this product is much better than an agave treatment I recently had, because it feels weightless and does not burn. I used gloves when applying the product, but i don’t think you need gloves, but it did not burn my skin at all!

    Update:
So on the second week I had this product, I did not notice stripping at all, I realized that it was my fault for stripping the product out the first week. I am mad at myself because I bought a Silk Touch keratin treatment by Hair Bar NYC and that keratin was a dud, and I returned the Coco Choco for nothing! So now I had to buy it back. I absolutely love this product and I think it is perfect and not the best at curl reduction and it also will require minor touch ups every few weeks or so.

This product impressed me and my hairdresser! I used it in between my standard keratin treatments. The directions were easy to follow and video links made it even clearer. I did leave the product on about twice as long as recommended but that was only because I got a bit distracted and I figured it would better serve to remove frizz. I should say my hair is of medium thickness and falls a couple of inches below my shoulder. It gets quite frizzy if left to dry naturally so I usually go for regular keratin treatments to knockback the frizz. Since there is no formaldehyde or harsh chemicals in this product I figured leaving it in extra time would only serve to further soften my hair. There is a bit of an odor, however an open window or other well ventilated area really mitigates that. It is my understanding it is the keratin itself that causes the scent, but it is not harmful. I got a little help using the flat iron in the back to be certain I hit all sections but otherwise it really can be done on one’s own. I do wish its effects lasted a bit longer but it did get me through the summer heat and humidity very nicely. I would say it is definitely worth a try.
Good results at a great value!

Terrible. The worst thing you can ever get. Unfortunately I was too late to use until the allowed return time was over 😞
The fumes and smell are deadly and suffocating, yet it doesn’t work at all. It damages and destroys your hair instead. The manufacturer country is Israel not Brazil as claimed here. So, everything is literally misleading and not true

I spent hours making sure I followed all directions and videos properly. My hair looked nice and smooth and straight immediately after but it definitely wasn’t near as shiny as alot of keratin videos. The next night I went out to dinner and it was humid out. My hair frizzed up over the course of a couple hours which is how my hair normally acts when it’s flat ironed so this product did nothing but waste my time and money. I have pretty curly, thick, and frizzy hair so I was very hopeful to try this but I honestly regret doing it because not only did it waste my time/money and not work, but during the flat iron process it lightened my hair suuuuper weird and uneven. My hair is orange in some places and black in others and so uneven and for some reason the orange is more on the top of my head towards my roots. I’m gonna just do a thermal reconditioning treatment instead and then dye my hair back to black and hope for the best 🤞🏻🤞🏻 if you have any type of real texture/frizz/curl to your hair then this is not the product. I added pics so you can see the horrible outcome from this product, and it looks much worse in person. Be careful ladies!

Im using this product for 4 years and still love it, works really well with my hair !

  7. Raquel Ross

    Pros:
    – I have thick hair, so I thought one bottle wouldn’t be enough. I have little less than half so the product goes a long way! Don’t put too much on though.
    – I’m one month out and my hair is still easier to manage. My curls are still intact but are looser. This may be a con for some, but for me I consider it a pro. While I love my curls, it is much easier to manage it now. I get to use less hair product too.
    – Sweet smell afterwards.
    Cons:
    – Make sure you are in a well ventilated area; at the very least keep a window open while running a fan. I made the mistake of only having a window open because I did not smell any fumes at first. After 10 minutes it hit me and I almost passed out. It was fine once I had my fan on and went to a ventilated room.

I’ve been using this brand of relaxer for a little over 3 years. Easy to do and saves you money at the salon. Pays for itself after the first use. Just remember to follow the same rule, sodium sulfate free shampoo. I use Native and it works great.

  9. Samar E.

It left my hair very soft and shiny. It works very well and I like it.

  10. Amazon Customer

It arrived long before the date, I really appreciate it, because I really wanted to use it with my clients. I have been using this product for more than 1 year and I really like it, my clients have given me very good references.
    I recommend it.

  11. Falina

I’ve used this many times without a problem. Follow the instructions exactly and you are fine. The fumes are not great, but I ventilate by doing the treatment beside an open window with a fan blowing the air out beside me, and it’s tolerable.

  12. debbie nucete

This product is really not bad for the price, it does keep away frizz, as for keeping your hair pin straight, not going to happen. You may have waves or even curls depends on your hair type. I do love it though.

  13. Claudia Zacharias

SO smooth now even when I wear it curly. Blowouts are much easier and I don’t need a lot of finishing styling anymore. Get a fan though, the fumes are strong.
