Metal detox pre shampoo treatment seems like it promises 2 different things. It talks about stripping “metal buildup” from hair but also talks of bond repair. I wasn’t aware those 2 things went together. I think this one will largely depend on how much “metal buildup” you have in your hair. Well water? Probably going to love this product. City water? Maybe not as much. I am on city water and I don’t think we have a whole lot of metal contaminants. Plenty of minerals though (hard water) which is a separate issue. The first time I used it I felt like it did something and my hair maybe looked smoother. Subsequent times I feel like it may have done nothing. It’s truly hard to tell. But that could also mean I don’t need to use it often at all. Which would make 1 bottle last a while and the value make more sense. I feel like I’ve gotten similar effects from a standard clarifying shampoo and a bond builder, which could be had cheaper than this. But the main thing is this is a preshampoo that could be added to an existing routine, so it’s worth a shot if you think you suffer from metal contaminants in your water.

I never had a problem with build up in my hair until we moved into a different house. Until we are able to get a shower filter installed, I’ve taken to alternating different clarifying shampoos and hair detox masks.

This was my first time trying a pre-shampoo treatment. This treatment from L’Oreal Professional line worked well! I applied as directed by sectioning my hair in the shower, applying this treatment, and then shampooing on top. I rinsed and then applied my usual conditioner.

I think due to the number of metals/minerals in our hard water, this was very effective for my hair. My hair definitely had more bounce to it after and felt lighter. I didn’t notice any additional shine but my hair does feel a bit softer to the touch.

It’s a little pricey but I don’t think this is something I would use every wash. I’m going to play around but will likely use every few washes so maybe 1-2x a month. At that rate, this container will last quite a while.

I’m not sure if I need a metal detox or not but decided to try this. I have long, very thick, wavy hair that is coarse and frizzy. I used this as indicated by sectioning my hair, applying a few pumps per section. I do not have the other Detox products so I just shampooed with my usual shampoo and applied my usual products afterwards. I through my hair in a ponytail and let it air dry. When I took the ponytail out, I did notice that my curls were much more defined than they would usually be without styling. I can only assume it is from this product since nothing else was different so I will continue to use this occasionally. I don’t see anything that indicates how often it should be used so I wish that was made clearer.

I use this before I use the metal detox shampoo. I use it once per week. My hair feels cleaner and softer. I have not used the detox shampoo with out this pre treatments so I can’t compare how much it helps. But as a combo, I like how they work together.

L’Oreal Professionnel Metal Detox Pre-shampoo Treatment | Hair Porosity Filler | Strengthens, Hydrates, and Reduces Breakage | Refills Micro-Breaks | For Dry, Damaged & Color Treated Hair ! Leave a very nice softness to my hair, I only wishes it came with better instructions for use. L’Oreal Is known to have good products! So that is why I wanted to give this Detox shampoo a try! It didn’t disappoit me… Of course it will not suds up a lot!
With pre-shampoos that always the case. The price point in my opinion is very high for a Detox pre-shampoo.

Had never used a pre-shampoo treatment before, but I know I have hard water and when reading this product description it sounded like it could provide some benefits for me. I unfortunately did not have the shampoo or other metal detox products so I feel like I didn’t get the full experience/it was not able to perform at it’s full potential. I have noticed a slight difference in hair retention and less visible damage, but just slightly. The scent of this product is okay, and it definitely didn’t leave my hair worse than where it started so that’s good. Would definitely try the rest of the product line since it seems promising.

I tried a pre-treatment shampoo for the first time and found it made my hair feel softer and smoother. While it didn’t alleviate dryness, it performed as expected. Though not a miracle solution, it’s a worthwhile addition to my routine, likely optimized when paired with complementary products.

For $38, I expected a larger bottle of shampoo. It says it’s 8oz and off the top of my head, I have no idea how that compares to your average shampoo bottle. Plus there’s no other object to judge the scale of the bottle. It’s about 7 inches tall and the size of my hand. Less than half the size of a standard shampoo bottle.

I’m using this as a stand alone product and not with the whole line of these metal detox products (otherwise that would cost me $150+ in hair products). I’m just using this alongside my cheap drugstore shampoo and conditioner and with hard water.

The consistency is gel like and doesn’t lather up very well. It says to use 2-4 pumps per section of damp hair, I divided my hair in half and used 4 pumps on each half. I let it sit for a few minutes and then applied my regular shampoo and rinsed my hair.

I did notice an immediate difference in my hair. It’s a lot silkier and so much less frizzy. It smells very clean with a hint of grapefruit. My hair feels very lightweight, clean, and not weighed down. I love it!

The directions don’t say how often to use this product, I’m not sure if it’s with every hair wash or not but I’ve been using it daily. At 8 pumps of this product daily, I’m going to go through this bottle extremely fast. The directions were also written in another language, I realized I had to peel back the sticker to get to the English directions which I thought was odd.

I do like the way it makes my hair feel, but depending on how long this bottle lasts me, I don’t know that I would spend $40 on this regularly. It’s pretty expensive for a drugstore brand tiny bottle. That’s the only reason I’m knocking off one star, it’s not worth this price tag.
