This is much much cheaper than the ghd 1″ classic, but it doesn’t work as well, and takes longer. I have thick, Indian, dry, wiry, frizzy, naturally curly (very unruly not-sure-which-direction-they-want-to-curl) curls down to the middle of my back. I had a babyliss with steam and retractable comb which straightened my hair in 45 mins. Then I discovered ghd about 5 years ago. I’ve had that 1″ classic ghd since then. It straightens my hair in 10 mins and there’s no need to even section my hair. The 1inch round barrel creates gorgeous healthy curls too.
I need a new straightener so decided to see what new technology is out there, maybe for cheaper, so got this Furiden since the new ghd platinum is so ridiculously expensive. The Furiden doesn’t compare.

I tested by straightening the right side of my head with the furiden and the left side with the old ghd. Furiden took 3 seconds more to reach the 355degree heat setting. The ghd doesn’t need a heat setting since it has sensors. The 3 seconds more weren’t a big deal, but having the temp set at 355 meant I wasn’t sure if the furiden was actually able to keep the heat constant, or if my hair needed hotter or cooler at any point- which the ghd supposedly automatically adjusts for you. I straightened the right side with furiden for 5mins and 15 secs (about the time I estimated the ghd would take- I wasn’t satisfied with it but I was tired so I stopped and decided to see what the left side looked like after 5.15 with the ghd). My right side hair was mostly straight, but still very voluminous, with some wiry shallow waves, and not as straight as I would normally do it. It also wasn’t as shiny as I thought it normally would be with the ghd. It was a very dry kind of straight. Then I switched to left side with ghd. After 4mins 15secs, hair was perfectly straight, shiny, sleek, and I was done.

I then went back over the right side of my hair with the ghd. It took another 2mins 30 seconds getting the furiden straightened hair to look as smooth, sleek and shiny as the left ghd side.

That extra ~6 mins (3 mins per side)…. is it worth the extra ~$85? well after 5 years of using this ghd every other day I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been rushing to get my hair done because I’m late or tired or whatever… and those extra minutes mattered. I’d rather spend the money.

Then I curled a small section on both sides. Right side with furiden- curled just fine, but the barrel is larger than the ghd so the curl wasn’t as tight and therefore fell out twice as fast. The ghd curl of course lasted my usual day and half.

I also noticed that the furiden plug is a simple 2-prong while the ghd has a fuse and a reset button – which seems safer?

So the ghd is a clear winner. The GHD’s shinier sleeker result that gets done faster (which also means less time standing in front the mirror with a fan on full blast to keep me cool, less time with my arms up in the air working, and just less overall effort) is worth the money for me. Furiden doesn’t cut it.

I purchased this flat iron Friday morning after my fourth salon quality, extremely expensive flat iron flat lined on me. I am used to salon quality hair products and in all honesty the last four irons I have purchased have been in excess of $250/apiece. They were the best I had used and worth the investment—- just not every year.
This one was highly rated and I decided to take a chance and figured for the price give it a go. The reviews were good and the customers who had purchased seemed very satisfied.

I have used it once and it heats up quickly and does not tug or pull on hair as the other reviews shared, however I have to clamp tightly and squeeze to ensure that all of my hair is pressed through the iron. I found myself making more passes with the iron than I am used to because there is a slight space between the two plates and you must apply pressure to make sure that the hair passes evenly through.

I am happy but not as thrilled as I had hoped and the true test will be what it looks like after I have slept the night and then how it is able to keep my hair smooth in humidity or outside.
At this point I am happy enough that I will keep it, but I will update my review in the next few weeks it anything changes.

The pictures show that the flat iron leaves my hair shiny and straight, but it took me almost 45 minutes of blow drying and using the iron to shape my hair the way I would like it. I am able to use the iron to create the curls and flip the ends but in the pictures I was just going for a straight style. For the money I would recommend it, however if you have fine hair, the plates do not automatically close completely- be aware that there will be a slight gap and you will have to squeeze that section or run it through several times to straighten it completely.

Update one week later— unfortunately I will be returning this flat iron. The continuous passes with the hot plates and the fact that I have to squeeze to make the plates clamp down on sections is causing damage to my hair. Even using specific hair products for hot flat irons when in use, I am experiencing damage. I gave it a shot and it honestly is a decent product for the price. Perhaps because my hair is color treated and medium coarse, this is not the one for me.
Again my hair is finer at the ends and I have coloring- no keratin or straighteners and after almost a week of use (once a day) I am seeing breakage and splitting. If you have finer or treated hair- perhaps check with your stylist or ask someone in this forum who has purchased one that colors their hair regularly.

As stated above, yes I have had this for 6 years and it has not failed me! It still works and I it has been such a great tool to have because it also curled my hair as well! Even until this day it doesn’t take long to heat up probably less than 30 seconds and it still gets really hot! I recommend this for anyone!

I bought one of these 6 years ago, it worked great but died. I tried out a cheaper brand….NEVER again! Stick with this one. The other brand overheated and the outside of the straightener got too hot to touch, but this Furiden is consistently good and much safer. Straightens my hair quick!

  5. Kayla Michniewich

It heats up quickly and glides smoothly through hair, leaving it sleek and shiny. The adjustable temperature settings cater to all hair types, and the ergonomic design is comfortable to use. If you’re looking for a versatile and reliable hair tool, this is a great choice!

Love it! It’s easy to use and light weight. Perfect for everyday and travel.

  7. Easy to install & very comfortable.

This iron works so much better than any other I have tried at this price. I have been very impressed with its ability to both straighten and curl with minimal damage. My teenage daughter even loves it!

Had to return as it came with USA plugs and I didn’t want to look for a plug to fit it . My Fault when ordering didn’t realise I was on USA Amazon . Very awkward to return as had to ring USA to return it BUT I e mailed Furiden to explain they were marvellous handling the return with full refund given
