The New Wash was good – but not mind blowing. I also bought the Hair Balm and it made my hair look terrible. Dirty and heavy. Maybe I used too much – it didn’t say how much to use. I tried it with letting my hair air dry – which it suggests. Didn’t look good. Tried blowing drying – and it looked worse. These two items cost me $100 and I am very disappointed.

This product is an all-in-one cleanser and moisturizer. It transformed my thinning hair into glorious waves with loads of volume. It can be used daily, or as often as you wish and it always turns out great!

Terrible feel, terrible smell. I gave it a month. Despite the unpleasent way of cleaning (or not cleaning) i waited for some positive change on my hair. nothing! it is a dollar trap!

I was suddenly shocked to find my hair, that I usually enjoy, was dull and lifeless. My hair gal was at a loss also. I was going through some very stressful times about then and she suggested it could be that. I then saw an ad for this NEW WASH and thought it might help. That was about 4 months ago, and my hair has steadily returned to ‘my hair’ only better. I do alter the instructions a little…… I add a little volume shampoo to the crown of my head before adding the New Wash. Then after massaging it all in while thick, I then add more water and finish massaging it into all areas. After rinsing I follow it up with some Aveda Pure Abundance creme conditioner. That is the perfect routine for me. Most of us don’t adore fresh clean hair because it’s just sort of dry and fluffy. This New Wash almost skips that stage and by day 2 my hair has body, shine, and texture, separating enough to show the layers. It has slightly helped a recent onset of psoriasis for which I am grateful. New Wash is expensive. probably could work great using less. But for now, I am thrilled that I love my hair again and my hairdresser is amazed too. We went from scared to lighten it due to its poor health and fragile condition to being back to my best blonde self and happy again.

I have long very fine naturally blonde hair that I dye A1 (dark blue-black). My hair tends to get dry even though I don’t use heat. My hair doesn’t accept permanent or semi permanent dyes of any type, a single shampooing drains all the blue tinge out and significantly loses the black. I have tried every color safe, color protective shampoo and conditioner system, and finally accepted this is the way it is and I try to only use shampoo 1-2 x a week max.

I selected this product in the Rich formula.

PROS: It does make my hair healthier and adds moisture. It’s nice to have one step and not have to let it sit

CONS: It smells ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE to me – chemical/harsh hair dye/acidic, it does speed up the greasy hair effect for me (second day vs 4th or 5th day), it’s very expensive, the pouches are annoying and a waste of plastic, it does tend to make you break out along scalp line/behind ears

I ended up getting the subscription after a few months of use even though I haven’t gone through a whole pouch yet, I wanted the lower price and the refillable jar, I just wish they had a more eco-friendly way of getting it to you. I have to use a lot at a time for coverage (long hair, fine hair, and water pH/softness issues) but it lasts a while considering, even if I use it more than 2x a week.

My best method for getting (almost) every drop out is at the end to put it upside down against the side of the shower and running a squeegee (or you can use your hand) and flattening it towards the spout.

If it works for you, I hope you like the smell, thankfully I don’t care too much since I work around smelly animals 14+ hours a day and have very limited social life even pre-COVID.

It definitely still makes my hair color run down the drain but it’s tied for “best” compared to everything else I’ve tried.

UPDATE – don’t bother with the stainless steel dispenser bottle, I’m on my second and they are pointless, the product is too thick and the bottle opening and tube are too small. I get a speck of the product out after one pump and then can pump til the cows come home and will never get any more (and yes I know how to make it so there’s a vacuum). It’s a total flaw, they’ve sent me multiple pumps, the first time after the tube had disconnected from the pump and I had a full bottle that I couldn’t get any thing out of even after sacrificing a drinking straw to try and scoop some out.

This is so frustrating and such a waste of time. I’ll be using the big tin only which should come with it for the price you have to pay. I had to store the bottle upside down open and then swing it around and shake it violently every shower to get a little bit out. Once it got down some I had to water it down to get the rest (and there was enough for 1.5 months trapped in there).

As a real redhead, I had rather thick hair when younger. But now that I’m in my sixties, it’s thinning and drier. So, when I first tried this product, I was surprised; it felt too moisturizing for my curly style. Then I got my hair cut shorter, and WOW, this stuff is da bomb! However, although I can afford it, and it last a long time (a little goes a long way, especially if you have short hair), it is pricey.

  8. Andrea

I absolutely LOVE this for my hair. This is the first time in my life I can let my hair dry naturally and it looks fantastic! I purchased this months ago and still have more then half left. Really brings out my curl and NO FRIZZ! So happy thank you!!

For me it left my hair feeling very dry and my scalp itchy. I am usually willing to at least use up a product when I buy it but this went to the garbage. Worst shampoo product I ever bought. It’s a red flag if they keep instructing you how to use the product. You shouldn’t have to scrub and scrub to clean your hair and it shouldn’t take gallons and gallons of water to rinse out your shampoo. And there shouldn’t be a break in period when you have to put up with bad hair and itchy scalp. There are better products out there to spend this kind of money on.

This is the only product I have found that I can use almost daily on my 2A/B thick wavy hair and not have it totally dried out. I do too many dirty things to not wash my hair often. Or at least rinse clean. It’s too expensive though so I’m always looking for a cheaper version that does the same thing

  11. Little Brown Dummy

So much better for my scalp than anything I have used. A bit pricey but works great on heavy/kinda thick, wavy hair. I used a bit less and dont have to wash as often. Email deals or subscribe.

I have very fine hair and struggled with finding the right cleanser. Everything else I tried dried my hair out and it was like straw very quickly after each coloring. I have literally tried it all! This is the only product that cleans my hair/scalp without leaving build-up and without drying my hair. My hair has never been healthier. Even my hair dresser says so!

  13. Louise B

This is really good stuff. I have thin hair and it does clean it, but just leave that bit of texture. I have to be careful with the balm though as it was making my hair feel greasy, so I stopped using that so much and just the cleanser and the result was much better for me.
