Hard choice between five stars and four, as this is very good in all categories except noise. Another brand was a runner-up to this one, but the guides for cutting only went to 3/4 inch while this one goes to a full inch, needed for longer areas.
Wife and I have been cutting each other’s hair (when necessary, i.e., no Covid or lack of $$) since 1994 and have had a large variety of cutters and scissors. This unit replaces an old corded “Oster” clipper we have had for years, almost identical design but lately beginning to feel like a dinosaur with its weight and the hassle of a cord. Another Wahl cordless men’s (small, personal) hair trimmer I got about a year ago has been a delight to use. It is light weight, almost silent in operation, and gives an incredibly good cut, thus this unit was my choice.
The Guides are, as some complained, not 100% metal but are plastic–appears to be “Bakelite,” a phenolic resin–yet there is a metal part, the clip that holds the guides onto the clippers. In all the shopping and comparison I’ve done–and I am nothing, if not thorough about researching the products I by–I’ve never seen “full metal guides.”
Every guide I’ve seen in every beauty supply and in every product ad, to my knowledge, is plastic and I’ve got no complaints about this. The guides fit tightly and stay in place and are well made; they will last a lifetime, and with Wahl, most beauty supply places carry guides and/or attachments.
Cuts well, feels nice and strong in the hands, no input yet on battery life but will provide update in a few months.

By all appearances, this is a great clipper. Unfortunately, the item I received is not the one listed. It came with plastic guards (not the upgraded metal ones) and a really cheap and tiny neck duster (not the one pictured). As an added bonus, the comb that comes with the set had black grime or paint spattered on it.
I’m returning and buying directly from Wahl instead. I suggest other people do the same to avoid a potential hassle.
I wish Amazon would crack down harder on this crap. It completely negates the convenience of buying through them when you have to return incorrectly listed and/or damaged items and then wait for replacements to ship, or spend time finding another seller.

The husband (not a barber) has been doing his own hair since covid and this is by the far the best clippers yet. After the last one died I suggested getting a nicer one since he uses all the time now and these didn’t disappoint. The quality and feel is sooo much better than the cheaper ones we were buying. He says they are easy, fast and efficient. Comfortable in hand, only need one pass over any area. I can see a big difference in how much nicer his hair looks after using these.

Contrary to most recent reviews, the item I received was exactly as advertised and shown on the product page. Received a brand new 5-Star Magic Clip hair clipper, all premium clipper guides with metal clips, and a nice premium neck duster.

The Wahl Magic Clippers are just what I was expecting! They are efficient, smooth and cut hair with ease. I haven’t had them long enough to give a review of the battery, but I love that they are cordless. The combo set that came with the clippers is great quality, the guards are sturdy (high quality), the comb is good quality and the little hair brush it comes with is to small for my big hands. I am an aspiring barber and this purchase was perfect to help me start to master my future profession!!! I would recommend to anyone!!

I have now cut my own hair, both of my sons and a friend. These clippers are performing great, I love the high quality guards and accessories. Definitely worth the investment!!!
