    Beautiful! Used for Quinceanera (15)

Since they had to change their ingredients, it doesn’t work as well as the old formula but it still works.

After going through 6 bottles of this Grecian Formula, I’ve seen no change. The only time I’ve seen any change is if I don’t wash my hair for a couple days and continue to spray the formula on my head. Then my nails get what looks like grease or dirt under them when I scratch my head. But as soon as I wash my hair, it’s right back to the white/grey hair color I’ve had.
Don’t waste your money on this scam. I know it’s been around for a long time but they’ve either changed the formula or those that have used it in the past didn’t ever wash their hair.
I’m not sure of the solution to turning my hair back to its original color other than dyeing it.
I really wanted this to work but I’m disappointed!! Won’t be buying it again.

I guess the effectiveness must vary quite a bit between individuals. I used Grecian quite a few years ago to minimize my “premature” gray. This time, after three weeks of use and about 40% of a bottle consumed, the color difference is close to imperceptible. I have been careful to vigorously shake the bottle before dispensing into my palm, then applying two palmfuls at the start of each day and washing the hair once every four days. The resulting difference in coloration between my original completely gray and the present is so slight as to be uncertain, so it must work better for most men. I’ll finish with this bottle and evaluate but so far, it’s really really slow going.

Update: I am now, at 2+ months, on the 2nd half of the second bottle with the hair still gradually darkening. I am still washing hair only twice/week with liberal morning application and vigorous shaking of the bottle. Boy, this is a lot slower than I would have expected…

Update: After about seven months of daily usage and twice a week shampooing, I can say that I now have a definite darkening of my hair. It’s not gray anymore, but a fairly uniform medium to light brown. So it is easy to use and works, just be very very patient if you’re starting from full gray.

Read the product description and instructions. This stuff does exactly what it claims to do. Some people don’t like the smell. It does smell like most hair products do but is gone after a while.

Do follow the instructions. Place enough of this on fully dry hair so that the hair is fully wet. Do this every day until the color is what you want. A few drops don’t work, hair must be wetted fully with this product. Then after you have the color you like apply it once a week.

It is best to get a haircut before you start because if your hair lis longer you use much more of the product in the first few weeks. This stuff works better with shorter hair. On the other hand this product will not work with VERY short hair because it needs a few weeks to work, or should I say it only works on the hair that is a few weeks old so if you cut your hair every few weeks this product will never have time to work.

If you hair is very long, you’ll be buying this stuff by the caseload and it will not have time to work if you use clippers every couple weeks. Or if you don’t like the smell of it and can’t wait the few hours for it is dissipate. For everyone else it works as stated.

I used this product years ago but decided to use “natural” hair coloring for a while. After a recent disastrous experience with henna, I decided to go back to it and found that it still works great. My hair had grown out about 2 inches and was half white and half henna red (and looked ridiculous). This time, I didn’t want to wait 3 weeks for the Grecian Formula to work, so I soaked my hair with it and wore a plastic bonnet all day to keep it from drying. By evening, the white hair was a nice light brown. My reddish henna hair seemed to blend better with the now darker hair and looked a lot better than the stark contrast of the red/white combination I had going on. Also, I don’t have to worry about getting caught in a rainstorm and having dark hair rinse dripping down my face. Now I just spray it on 2 or 3 times per week to maintain the color. Good stuff! Just make sure to shake it very well before putting it on or it won’t work as well.

I don’t often write reviews but this really warrants one. I’m mid 50’s, work out and try to look fit and good. Ego, of course, plays a part. I hated looking at that shining silver ring creeping up the side of my head. I have, or had, a dirty blonde hair color and felt that Grecian was a hair color-er that would never match my hair. Plus, it’s been around so long I thought it old science and not worth a try.
I went to my barber, stylist and said I would really like to have the color I used to and not make it look unnatural.
His first attempt left me with a brown version to the point I prayed it lightened by morning. It didn’t. I went back in and he tried again. Mind you, he is very experienced and has a great reputation. 2nd attempt was much better but no-one, didn’t notice. Not to mention the humiliation of females that I know seeing me in the salon with a head full of color. Those are weird conversations.
I tried Grecian and followed the directions and even debated with myself it it was working.
It doesn’t dye the hair, it chemically changes its properties back to the original color. I’ve no idea how, but 3 month’s in and there’s no doubt the grey is gone and not even one comment from co-workers or family. The change was apparent after 1 month, but I wanted to wait. The stuff works and at a fraction of the cost and humiliation of the salon.
