The first time I purchased a hair dryer at a location that wasn’t a big box store, I paid $80 for it, my husband thought I was nuts. I had been researching for months and the one I wanted was finally on sale. The first time I used it, and for the years that have followed, I have loved the negative ion feature. This is even more apparent the few times a year that I travel and stay in a hotel, or a time share, and I use the provided hair dryer that does not have that feature.

This purple $80 hair dryer has the negative ion feature, and I have not noticed much difference in my hair when using this one vs that one. Both have a concentration nozzle that snaps on, but this one can be rotated while using it. (My personal preference is the magnetic attachments, because I don’t have to worry about the little tabs that hold the attachments on, breaking off. However that hair dryer is over $100 and I don’t want to travel with it).

This hair dryer also has a matching diffuser for curly hair, my other $80 one does not. Both of these attachments feel secure, and not likely to fall off during use. It also has a cord wrap, which I now think all appliances should come with those. One thing this hair dryer has, that not many others have in this price range, is the temperature cycling mode. (Push and hold the temperature button to activate it). I love that the temperature automatically cycles though the temperatures without my need to push any buttons during use.

This hair dryer feels well balanced in my hand while I am using it. I feel like I can hold it a little lower on the handle (not up at the top by the buttons). This dryer does have a smaller footprint than the others that I own. The filter is easy to remove and clean. (It does not have the feature that reverses the air flow, to blow the dirt back out of the air intake). I do feel like all hair dryers are noisy, but this one doesn’t sound as loud as a few of the others that I own.

Overall, for the $80 price point, I think this one has some great features and is a good travel size.

    EASE OF USE
Very easy to use. Basic buttons are easy to navigate and intuitive. Placed well so I’m not accidentally knocking the buttons while using the dryer but easy to access.

    ATTACHMENTS
The diffuser is actually quite large which is nice if you have extra curly, extra thick, or extra long hair. There are only two attachments which isn’t a deal breaker. I don’t often use attachments but they’re nice to have as an option. Both attachments are snap on as opposed to magnetic. It seems like hair dryers in this price range are going more along the lines of magnetic attachments which I have also come to prefer.

    SOUND
Sound is pretty comparable to other dryers in this price range. I always roll my eyes if a hair dryer describes itself as “whisper quiet”. I’ve yet to find one that can be accurately described as such. Still, they’re slightly less loud than dryers from decades past. It’s loud enough to chase my cat out of the room, but quiet enough that my 5 year old will stay still with minimal complaint while I dry his hair.

    STORAGE
The box is also sturdy enough to use for storage. The cord has a nice silicone strap for winding up your cord. I like that touch. I hate when cords are wrapped with a bit of wire that you immediately lose. And when it comes to hair dryers, I need to be able to get them back in their box (or storage container) so they don’t take up counter space.

    OVERALL
Overall, a fine dryer. Nothing about it stands out to me. I do appreciate the cycle button – which isn’t intuitive, definitely read that manual. It’s only a page or two so very manageable. Honestly, I would probably hold out for an extra bonus or two. In this price range I can probably find a dryer with magnetic attachments and a storage bag that actually makes it “travel” friendly and I would opt for that instead.

    Will update if anything changes.

I’ve been very impressed with this hair dryer. It has a great variety of settings and dries my hair efficiently and quickly. It’s easy to hold and lightweight – and I love that it comes with the diffuser!
It has 2 settings for how strong the air is blowing out (there isn’t a super huge difference, but enough to know that there is a difference) – and there are 3 “heat” settings – a cool, warm, and hot. My favorite feature though is that with a long press of the power button, it will cycle between the 3 temperatures continually (which is something I’ve never had a hair dryer do before!)
(Also, I know it’s just the presentation, but I do love the color! It’s so fun to open my cupboard & see that pop of pink!)

Wow it runs very smooth and very quiet and has a lot of airflow. It includes two different attachments however I do not typically have a use for either one so I can’t comment on them other than they are easy to attach and remove. The power cord feels like it’s made out of silicone and is nice and pliable and soft however it is only 6 feet long and most of the hairdryers that I have used the power cord is 10 feet long which makes all the difference especially if you try to use this hairdryer at a salon. The hairdryer has two airflow speeds however the switch is somewhat difficult to move only to the first position because it tends to slide right by the first position and into the highest speed. Other than that I would say it’s perfect and once again I’m very impressed at how quiet it is and how much air it can move.

I have thick, naturally wavy hair – usually, I blow dry it straight, then finish it off with a flat iron to tame the wave and eliminate the frizz. Some days, though, I like to ride the wave and let it dry naturally – this helps dry my hair but keeps the curls and not the frizz. I’m pleasantly surprised! The diffuser is ginormous – so it covers a much larger area than diffusers I’ve used in the past. This will especially come in handy during the winter months when it’ll be too cold to let my hair air dry, but I want to keep the curls. On those days, I want to get rid of the curls; this powers through my thick locks and gets the job done. 😉 Highly recommend!
