By no means am I an expert, but I’ve been cutting my own hair since I was 12 years old. That translates to 57 years with my shears. About 10 years ago I bought a cheap pair of thinning shears and that was a game changer. My hair isn’t thick, but thinning shears enabled me to feather my hair with ease.
I saw these thinning shears and thought I deserved/needed a new pair. SO glad I got them! They are a bit larger than my previous shears, which means hair cutting takes a bit less time. And they are much more comfortable than my old ones. The finger holds are contoured and smooth. And the cuts are extremely smooth (I could feel and hear my old shears grind as the blades touch each other).
The fact that these are cobalt stainless steel means they are going to last a long time.
The shears, 2 combs, 2 clips and cleaning rag came in a lovely zippered case.
These aren’t just for someone who cuts their own hair. I think they are worthy of any professional hair stylist.

I just used these to remove A LOT of excess weight and bulk from my hair. Before I got these I had another pair that were very difficult to use and hard to figure out, but these were well understood immediately. The trick to using thinning shears is to keep the side with the openings on the outside, and the straight edge on the inside. Meaning, when you’re holding the shears you want to come down with your blades so that the straight edge is underneath the hair, and the openings side is on top of the hair. You also want to make your cuts about halfway through the hair shaft, nothing too close to the scalp or near the hair line. I used them on dry hair and I used a comb to pull through the hairs that I’d cut, I’ve never been a fan of dragging the shears through the hair to get those pieces out.
These are good and sharp, very comfortable to hold, nice and heavy but not too hard to handle. They did their job really well and seem to be durable and well made. I’m very pleased with the shears and the case is nice too. The combs included are meh, but the overall product itself is excellent. And I’ll take any extra duck clips any time!

I’m a retired hairdresser. But I still do hair for the family. I’ve always loved the yasaka brand shears but I had forgotten how wonderful they really are. The sharpness, weight, and balance are perfect! I really can’t find a single thing wrong with them. The combo is nice but what really sets these apart are the shears themselves. They are made from colbalt steele which is really the best there is. If you ever wanted to try really professional shears I promise you won’t be disappointed! And for this price they are an absolute must have!

I am not a professional, but I ordered this kit to cut my boys’ hair at home. It has pretty much everything I could need besides clippers. The cape was easy to use and velcroed around any size neck. The scissors are sharp and precise. It also came with the thinning shears to add a big more texture which work awesome!

This hair thinning set is beautifully packaged inside an attractive, zippered case. This set included 2 combs, hair clips, A cleaning, polishing cloth, and the thinning scissors.
I have small hands, and the finger holds perfectly fit my hand for maximum control. The scissors are sharp and did a nice job thinning and feathering my hair.
The combs, while a nice thought, are of poor quality. They tend to detract from the overall impression of the kit. The long straight comb arrived with a broken tooth. The comb with the handle looks nice, but it failed to remove a couple of tangles from my hair. Fortunately the scissors are the ” star of the show”, and the reason I ordered this set.

The case is is a nice size and built well and looks nice too. All the items are easy to use. It’s a very functional kit. Good product!
