I ordered this Quico hair straightener because I decided to step away from CHI hair straightener that I’ve had for nearly a decade to see if this would straighten my hair any better. My hair type is thick and curly. The straighter itself is sleek and modern and I love that it was digital. Being digital was one of the main things that attracted me to order it. In my first attempt of using it I will admit I was a little nervous about maxing it out to the highest temperature, however, with my hair type I had to. My first experience straightening was not good, it hardly did half of what my CHI straightener could do for my hair. I chalked this up to me not letting it heat up long enough as I trusted the “it heats up in 12 seconds” pitch and that was not the case for me and my hair type. The second attempt if you have thick curly hair you will need to let this straightener heat for a bit and definitely more than “12 seconds”. My second attempt at straightening was definitely more successful. It did leave my hair feeling similar to my CHI but not exactly and not better. Maybe I just need a few more rounds with this one practicing and I’ll update this review if I have a better experience. I feel this straightener would definitely be for the straight hair girlies that don’t have too thick of hair. Overall, I’m going to continue to use it and see if I get better results as I really enjoy how modern this straightener is.

I’ve never had a flat iron that came with gloves – and that is such a thoughtful and considerate addition. Fortunately the iron is safe and easy enough to use that it really doesn’t need the hand protection to go with, but it is still just absolutely lovely for them to be included. This straightener heats up quickly, LED shows bright and clear and buttons are easy to use and in easily reachable positions on the iron.
Have had no issues with this so far and no weird smells, which can happen with cheaper straighteners. Definitely recommend this flat iron!

I found Quico’s 2 in 1 appliance handles all hair types, because, in large part, the variability of its core temperature settings. So, whether working on thin to thick & curly hair, this offers the best of both worlds, to straighten or curl, all with amazing results, because I benefit from the ceramic plates this has.
Results?
Whether real or imagined, I think this makes my hair look shiny and smoother – and such lasts to my shower. Now, the downside is I am using something hot, but, so far, I have no issues, due to the correct path of temperature settings I can take with this, plus, those ceramic plates make a difference.
Ceramic plates?
Yes, this has ceramic plates. What that means is that even heat is distributed, frizz is reduced, if not eliminated, tangles reduced, and the ceramic helps in getting glossy and smooth finished hair, whether I want to straighten or get those big glossy curls when I want to change my look.
Why this?
Cost. I have a family and like most, am on a budget, this offered a reasonable alternative to those deep triple digit versions out there, with competitive results that boost my self-confidence. [Watch for discounts and coupons, at the time of this writing, August 2024, there was a discount of 25% off retail and then a 40% coupon, making this so reasonable in price, any of us would ask, why not.
Fit & Finish
The fit and finish are perfect in every way.
Travel capable?
Yes, this even has dual voltage capability. But it is a tad on the heavy side.
Temperature adjustments?
Yes, LED, (12) of them.
Auto-off feature?
Yes, (30) minutes, although I would prefer (15).
Weight?
About (20) ounces, which I think is a tad heavy.
Performance
Temperature control is spot-on. It did what it was advertised to do, straighten or curl my hair.
All in all?
It’s very capable.
The Right Tools Make a Difference
Having the right cosmetology tools makes all the difference. I thought this was worth a try; it may make a shiny positive difference.

I do not see that this is ETL/UL/CSA listed. Otherwise, I really cannot think of any other.

No certifications that I can observe, as noted above, further, there is no built-in overload plug; so, I do not use this near water.

PTC
The reference to advanced PTC is an acronym for Positive Temperature Coefficient – which is the heating elements known for fast and even heating, so my styling routine does not demand me to wait and wait for this to heat-up. The adjustable heat allows me to pick that temperature which I find works best with my hair; and the max temperature, at 450 degrees Fahrenheit, is more than sufficient for me.
Is this perfect?
No. Why? Safety with electrical products is always a concern. See my reference above.
Rating
I like it enough to give this a weak five (5) star rating. A strong rating would have been possible if it were certified for safety – and a travel bag included.

I was really looking forward to this product but am less than impressed. It didn’t seem to get hot enough no matter what temperature I chose. Due to the issue with low temperature it didn’t straighten or curl my hair. I am hoping that at this price point I just had a bad one.

This is a very sleek looking hair straightener. It heats up quickly and displays the temperature, which is nice. I like that it has rounded edges, so you have the option to curl your hair. They include a glove to protect your hand from heat, although honestly I don’t use it. The result is smooth straight hair.
