My wife says this is by far the best cleanser that she has used for water proof makeup!

I love this stuff! It removes make up effortlessly, it’s very gentle, and it leaves my skin soft anf clean. It’s the best face wash I’ve ever used.

This is a nice cleanser, but nothing special…

I use a 2 step cleansing method. This is called a “Meltaway Cleanser,” and is described as an “oil-free hydrating, makeup removing cleanser.” For that reason, I decided I’d use this as the first step in my cleansing process. Usually, the first step in my 2 step cleanse is a makeup removing oil or balm. I like to use them to kind of melt the makeup away, then I rinse it off and use a standard face wash. So, that’s why I decided to use this as the first step, since it was described as a “makeup removing cleanser.” I liked this a lot as the first step in my cleansing process. It melted makeup away really well. It even got my eyeliner and mascara off easily without having to scrub or tug at my eyes, which I love. It also felt really moisturizing on the skin. It didn’t dry out or make my skin feel stripped at all. My skin felt soft and moisturized after using it.

I decided to also try this as the second step in my cleansing process and use this as my standard face wash. For me, when it comes to my standard face wash, I like foam and/or suds. I don’t know, I just feel like with foam and/or suds, I see where it’s at. a cleanser like this, I can see it for the most part, but just not well enough for me to be sure I got every area cleansed evenly. Since I use a 2 step cleansing method, I feel my face was clean. But, I just prefer my foam/suds. When using this as the second step in my 2 step cleansing method, I don’t think I felt like my face was clean because of this cleanser. I felt like it was clean because I had used a makeup removing oil/balm before, and then used this as a final cleanse. If I had just used this and not a makeup removing oil/balm beforehand, I don’t think I would have felt my face was as clean as I’d like. But, I don’t think that’s anything on the cleanser really, just a matter of preference. I prefer foam/suds, so when I don’t have those, I just don’t feel like my face is as clean as if I would have had them. But, if you don’t mind cleansers without foam/suds, I think you’d feel like your face was fully cleansed after using this.

While I didn’t like this as the second step in my 2 step cleansing method, I did really like it as the first step in my cleansing process. But, even though I liked it as my first step, I don’t think that it was anything special. It did the same as my usual cleansing oil/balm, nothing different or special. Even the ingredients aren’t unique. Other than the marine algae, the rest of the ingredients are ones I see in a lot of my cleansing oils/balms. My usual first step cleansing oils/balms cost a lot less than this product. So, when I compared it and it didn’t do anything different and didn’t seem to have any huge difference in ingredients, I definitely didn’t think it was worth the higher price. But, I don’t like rating based on price since all of us have different views on what’s affordable and expensive, which is why I still gave this cleanser 4 stars. But, I do like to mention my thinking on price. For this, I just don’t see any reason for the cleanser to be $30 (at the time of writing this review) other than the fact it’s a Dr. Dennis Gross product. The ingredients aren’t anything special. It’s an ingredient list similar to tons of other cleansers I’ve tried that were priced a lot lower. So, I just don’t see the point in paying this price for this cleanser unless I was a big fan of the brand. Personally. I like Dr. Dennis Gross products. There’s some I do feel are worth the price, but this isn’t one. There aren’t many cleansers out there that I feel are worth a higher price point. There’s just tons of options out there that have great ingredients, that perform well, and that are on the more affordable side.

So, I do think this is a nice cleanser. It works well as the first step in a 2 step cleansing process. But, I don’t think it’s anything special. If you really enjoy the brand and are looking for a good product to use as the first step in your 2 step method, this could work for you. But, if you don’t care about the product brand name and only care about the price and how it performs, I wouldn’t recommend this because there’s many other great products out there that perform the same but cost a lot less. If you wanted to use this as your main face wash, you’d like this if you like cleansers that aren’t foamy/sudsy. But, if you like cleansers that have foam/suds, this isn’t for you.

This really does melt makeup! My face feels moisturized after use. My skin doesn’t feel oily or greasy at all. This is better than using oil for makeup removal. I’m worthy of great working products and will buy again. I subscribed to monthly deliveries for this product.

  5. Lisa

I hate having foam taste in my mouth and water dripping down my elbows at the sink. I apply this cleanser and wipe my face clean. My skin is fresh with no trace of make-up or sunscreen after. Great product!

  6. Tammy Hawkins

I love this product. My face feels so clean and fresh after using this product, follow by my favorite Shira Organic Toner and Shira moisturizer.

  7. Stacey

    Takes the makeup right off!

There is no messing around or false advertising with Dr. Gross!! I so appreciate getting such quality products that are worth spending the money on! They actually woek!
You can easily spend as much at Walgreens trying face products advertised all over tv, unfortunately you will eventually find out they do nothing. Dr. Gross skin care products literally produce results!
I’m a 40 yr old woman who still struggles with my face and ya obviously a big fan 😊
