The product itself is highly effective. I’ve been using it for about a year now and have seen steady improvements in hyperpigmentation. No, it is not completely gone but that is an unrealistic expectation to have for topical depigmenting products. Topicals work best at managing and reducing the recurrence of hyperpigmentation. Continued usage with sun protection is key to success. However, with the multiple repurchased I have made the quality seems to vary quite a bit between batches. Sometimes it is a light brown-opaque color and other times it is a dark gold-brown color. I assume it is because of variance in the licorice extract used, but that leads me to question the concentration of active ingredients within the licorice. A standardized and stated extract of the active ingredients in the licorice (ei licochalcone, glycyrrhizic acid) would be useful rather than taking their word for it that they are present in sufficient concentration.

naturism it’s $39.95 and a light yellow colour. So Amazon give out old products and nearly double in price.

I read all the reviews on how there seem to be something growing in the product when it arrives. However, I recall reading one review that said you needed to shake and warm it per instructions. Well, I decided to get this thinking maybe others aren’t reading the instructions, WRONG! No where does the instructions say shake it or warm it up. I received a product that also looked like mold, fungus, yeast, etc. was growing inside. Shaking it didn’t do anything and I put it in some warm water for about 2 minutes that did nothing. I definitely returned this immediately though I doubt I would’ve used it after seeing that growth if whatever was growing inside it dissipated after being warmed. It looked gross and just look the numerous photos posted by others. QA needs to re-evaluate this product or recall it because too many people are getting that growth in the serum which shouldn’t be the case

I am starting to see clear visible results after applying a very small amount (1-2 drops) once or twice daily for 2 weeks in fading sun spots, as well as hyperpigmentation from new and old scrape wounds (1 month and 1 year old). My whole face looks brighter, too. The product is lightweight and does not leave behind any noticeable residue on the skin unless too much product is applied. It is non-irritating for me. I am very pleased with it.
Some reviewers have described clumps in the product that they thought were fungal or bacterial growth. I noticed some of that, too, when I first opened the bottle. However, the package does say that the product needs to be shaken before use and stored at room temperature, because solids can form if the product gets too cold. I assumed that explained the clumps in my bottle, which was delivered on a cool fall day. I shook the bottle well and let it warm to room temperature, and the clumps disappeared and never came back. The product works great and doesn’t look or smell contaminated.

I agree with another user to shake the bottle before each use, unfortunately, I didn’t know this when I started and then finished the bottle (I read about it just now as I was getting ready to rate the product).
This lack of shaking the bottle has a couple things that it impacts:
1. By not shaking the bottle meant a lot of different variations in the quality that dispensed, sometimes thinner or thicker with each use, and that caused burning on the skin during some of those (thicker distributions.
2. By not shaking the bottle with each use, in the end there was a lot of the heavier product left in the bottom of the bottle, and even leaving it upside down never was able to use that product (further emphasizing the uneven distribution problem listed in number 1).
3. The CAGE at the bottle neck makes it impossible to get all the product out as the stopper/dropper cannot be manipulated at an angle while tipping the bottle to create a larger pool of product. This problem was further compounded by earlier lack of shaking and thick product not being easily moved within the bottle. Eventually I removed the neck-cage and tried unsuccessfully to get the contents which was still a fail even after turning on end. The Bottle is in need of modification, or the dispensing system needs modified.
Overall, I think the product seems to work, though it seemed better in the beginning and then after a while nothing really seemed to be making any difference. I may or may not try it again, I am currently using a different company and will make a decision after that.

If you need a serum to lighten dark spots/age spots/scars/discoloration, GET THIS!!!!
I use a few drops of this at night a handful of times a week as I suffer from a bad scar and some dark spots/ discoloration on my face.
I was involved in a scooter accident about 2 months ago leaving with a scar on my face and since using this the discoloration has easily been reduced by at least 85% and keeps getting better each week.
I used to look in the mirror and all I could see was discoloration/Melasma from that pesky scar and now when I peer into the glass, all I see are the incredible results of this serum.
My complexion is finally ONE even and BRIGHT tone and my skin looks and feels just as radiant as it did when I was younger. As for the smell, the liquorish root is actually a pleasant smell, and not overpowering at all. Especially after using a moisturizer on top!
My skin did get a little sensitive around my nose where I didn’t need it after too much, so just “err on the side of caution” as over use can lead to flaky and irritated skin.
I think it’s best to apply to the problem areas as it is effective there the most. The smell is highly favorable, and the product last a long time as a little goes a long way!!
I would HIGHLY recommend this to ANYONE who is worried about their complexion or any dark spots! Naturium really knows how to hit the nail on the head!!!!
