Bought this because I read that Hawaii only allows certain sunscreen products to be sold there because of the sensitivity of the coral reefs. It must have done its job because I did not get burned when I went there in May. Product is thicker than most sunscreens, so takes a little bit to get it spread around

I have tested dozens of non-chemical sunscreens and this one is my go to. It hits the sweet spot of being reasonably priced and pleasant to use. It’s more effective than badger balm, and a heck of a lot less greasy too. Yes it’s thicker than a chemical sunscreen but it does rub in, it just takes a little longer. No strong fragrance, bio-based packaging, doesn’t cause breakouts even on your face AND it’s water resistant. (For real water resistant) I’ve tried so many and keep coming back to Kokua.

The sunscreen itself was good and I would buy again. However, the packing wasn’t as good and after I first shook the bottle and went to squeeze some out, the top exploded. Since then it has been leaking all over my belongings (even with tape on it) now that I’m writing this I realize I should use super glue but this has still never happened to me with any product in this type of container. I’ve only used it 3-4 times and it’s almost all gone just from leaking! (And this isn’t the easiest to clean off either)

I bought this sunscreen for a trip to Hawaii since it is reef safe. It’s expensive, but a little goes a long way. I bought two tubes of sunscreen for our family of four for a week at the beach. We mostly used it on our faces. My son has very sensitive skin, and most sunscreens cause him to breakout. We have been using Badger sunscreen for a few years, but after trying the Kokua sunscreen, my kids both declared that it was their new favorite sunscreen. It rubs in easily with no white cast, no oily residue and no breakouts or rashes. (Hint: use a tiny dab and rub it in all the way. If you use too much, it does leave a little white cast. On the plus side, I could tell if my kids missed any spots on their faces after applying it.) I highly recommend purchasing this sunscreen! It’s good for your skin and for the environment! It’s also easy to apply makeup over it. So if you are reading this review, stop reading and buy it! You’ll be glad you did! I also bought a konjac sponge to remove the sunscreen at the end of the day. The konjac sponges make it super easy to remove. I love, love, love this sunscreen!

Use this product anytime at the beach or even just going to be out in public in the sun, it has a nice tint to it, while this says I purchased the non tinted one, that was the plan but some how I received the tinted one and was not disappointed. It is not greasy like many sunscreens are and actually smells nice. I break out easily and did not breakout with this after wearing more than a week daily and with reapplication. So far very happy with this product and will buy again.

Our family traveled to Bahamas and was in search for a zinc sunscreen. This zinc sunscreen is amazing! It has a smooth application and no “white cast” left on skin. Smells great and protected our skin!
