My son has been using this spot treatment and he says it works great. There is a bit of an odor, but nothing worse than benzoyl peroxide or other face treatments with active ingredients. My son says it doesn’t bother him and he prefers this over other spot treatments that he’s used in the past. He’s asked me to purchase it again when it runs out.

The important thing to know about this “Alpha Beta On The Spot Eliminator” is that it smells horrible! If you just dab it on a small spot it’s not the worst thing in the world, but if you really get to rubbing it in or using it too close to your nose, it slaps you with an incredibly strong smell, like something that might come out of an industrial plant. It’s honestly a little shocking. Considering there are a lot of other 2% Salicylic Acid treatments out there, this one is not worth that smell.

I am no longer a teenager by a few decades, but I get stress pimples and occasional breakouts. This spot product comes in an upside down pump bottle. The formula goes on and stays on clear. Not a great smell, but I only use it on a few spots at a time and it doesn’t bother me. It feels like it works just as other 2% salicylic acid products work, but possibly less irritating than some other products. It seems to help dry out my blemishes, but doesn’t overly dry out my non affected skin.

First off, I don’t mind the smell since I’m using such a small amount. And the feel on my skin is fine and isn’t drying. I haven’t been using this for the full 4 weeks yet so haven’t seen all the potential benefits but for the few spots I’ve had pop up, this seems to be helping them clear sooner than they would otherwise. The product is pretty high priced for the size so I would expect strong performance – if I find that it isn’t meeting expectations in the future, I will update this review.

Does this product work? Yes, salicylic acid works for a lot of people, it worked pretty well for me – did it cure all of my skin issues? no, cystic acne isn’t super affected by it, so it won’t take care of everything for me – that being said i can’t really justify buying it again at nearly forty per oz. I did look through other reviews to see how others felt about it and a lot of people said the smell bothered them a lot – maybe it’s because i’ve tried a lot of cyctic acne products that smell HORRIBLE, but this is nothing in comparison and doesn’t bother me at all – i would suggest doing it before bed and not before a hot date, but i would think that is pretty standard with any acne medication

So to give all products a fair shot, I do not review them unless I have given it enough time to test it out, you cannot see results in a few uses, these things take time. I can’t remember how long I’ve been using this but its been over a month.

For context, my skin was oily growing up and turned dry with age and pregnancies. There’s parts of my face that has enlarged pores + blackheads and then some dry patches. Doesn’t make sense but here we are.
I don’t have acne but I wanted to test out the “blackhead” claim on this.

The first thing right off the bat, it product SMELLS. And it smells bad. Please do not use this if you are feeling nauseated because it will make it so much worse.
When it goes onto the skin I do feel a slight burning, I don’t know if that’s normal, but it happens more if I use it after a shower.

The results that I have noticed are very very minimal, my pores don’t really seem unclogged, the blackheads are still there as they always have been.
So unfortunately the results are so so so minimal that I can’t really say its a wonder product.

Works well for healing blemishes. Easy to use, can go under makeup but just need a very small amount or else it tends to build up and flake. I’ve found it works best at night. Translucent.

  8. Jess

I am rarely one to complain about an effective product simply because the scent isn’t perfect. But, while effective, this stuff REEKS… it’s oddly antiseptic-smelling, and because I put it on my face, I am bombarded on the scent for about an hour-or-so after application. Effective product, but unlikely to make it into my normal rotation because I can’t stomach the scent.
