  • WHAT IT IS: C-Luma Hydrabright Serum is a unique 10% vitamin C serum that gently illuminates while clarifying and hydrating skin, revealing a noticeably more even, luminous, and healthier-looking complexion
  • KEY INGREDIENTS: Sodium ascorbyl phosphate (9%) helps illuminate, reduces blemishes, and improves elasticity and fine lines. Ascorbyl glucoside (1%) protects against UV damage and free radicals. Antioxidants help reduce hyperpigmentation
  • KEY BENEFITS: This formula fades the look of hyperpigmentation and post-breakout marks; improves skin’s clarity and reduces blemishes for a more luminous complexion; and delivers hydration instantly and over time while helping prevent moisture loss
  • BEAM COME TRUE: With a 10% blend of two forms of vitamin C that are gentler than ascorbic acid, C-Luma is the perfect choice for the vitamin C beginner (or those who are a little C-shy), delivering illumination and hydration for all
  • HOW TO USE: Apply one pump to clean, dry skin. May be used morning or night and alongside any Drunk Elephant serum, treatment, or moisturizer. To maximize its benefits, be sure to top it off with a broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day
  • THE SUSPICIOUS 6: We avoid six categories of ingredients, many of which, research has shown, can be at the root of common skin issues: essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances/dyes, and SLS

This serum in unscented. It is a pump bottle that works well.
Directions say to apply 1 pump, it was enough.
    It absorbs quickly.
It leaves my skin feeling hydrated.
    It is a pricey product.

Vitamin C serums usually irritate or cause skin irritation after use, this one doesn’t! It even hydrates and feels smooth on the skin. Would buy again!

I’ve heard great things about this brand, so I was so excited to get to try this new product. First impressions: I truly love the dispenser. You twist the top and up pops a pump, which dispenses exactly the right amount with just one pump. The serum feels great on my skin. It’s thicker and more lotion-like than some serums I have tried, and it feels really hydrating right away. No fragrance at all, which I like. I love a good Vitamin C serum and this is a great one because it’s hydrating at the same time. Works well under makeup, hasn’t caused any irritation. I love it!

This new Drunk Elephant C-Luma Hydrabright Serum resembles a light gel when you pump it out of the bottle. It’s a cloudy, white thin gel with no scent, and I found myself wondering if only one pump would suffice for my entire face, since the bottle indicated that one pump was what I was supposed to use. Thankfully, the gel spreads out far enough that yes, one pump is all I need to cover my entire face (sparingly, though, I may add).

It doesn’t take long for this serum to sink in. This doesn’t sting at all, like some vitamin C products do–at least for me, they do. It feels light on my skin, and leaves a dewy look that fades quickly, as soon as the serum is absorbed. However, my skin ends up looking fairly invigorated throughout the day. I use retinol most nights, so it’s essential that I use vitamin C during most days.

This has a low dose of vitamin C, and it’s pretty non-irritating. This is meant to be a “starter” vitamin C, for people who may not have been using it before. It seems to be gentle compared to other vitamin C products I’ve used. My skin looks good, and the serum is non-scented and non-irritating.

I am 58, and have been using L-ascorbic acid based vitamin c products for almost 25 years. I have fair, sensitive, dry skin, and am happy with the results I have seen over the years.

Never having tried a Drunk Elephant product, I was curious how a different/gentler form of vitamin c (sodium ascorbyl phosphate) would be. I used the serum as my first step in the morning, after washing my face, in place of my usual viamin c serum. I used my other products afterward.

I am pleasantly surprised! The serum is viscous, and thicker than my liquid serum. I like the airless dispenser, which will keep the product fresh, longer. It applies smoothly, almost like a like cream, and actually feels somewhat hydrating. It mixed well well my other products and caused no pilling. It also didn’t stain my white linen blouses, which is sometimes an issue with l-ascorbic acid products. I didn’t experience any stinging/burning, and no feeling of tightness or redness. It’s a lovely serum, and one I am glad to be using. I think it could be particularly nice in winter, when my already dry skin is dehydrated too.

I got this Drunk Elephant vitamin C serum to try as my other vitamin C serum was almost out. This one comes with a twist top that pops out the pump if you turn it, and you turn the other way to put the pump away (I almost broke the lid trying to figure out how to open it). The directions say to use one pump, but I felt like that was too much, and left my skin fully saturated with extra on top. Half a pump or so for my face feels like a better amount. The serum is more of a beige gel/cream, and leaves a kind of sticky shine after using (even when using less). Because of this, I prefer to only use it at night since I put a heavier night cream on top of it anyway. It almost smells fragrance free, but there is a light scent to it. I haven’t noticed any positive or negative effects so far, but will keep using it for now. Not sure if I will buy more once I run out though, because OMG is this expensive!

    Looks just like…

This review is for (their headline description):
“Drunk Elephant C-Luma Hydrabright Serum – 1 fl oz – 10% Vitamin C Face Serum – Hydrates & Illuminates – Free of Essential Oils, Silicones & Fragrances – Cruelty Free”

If you look at image 3 you can see what this looks like: Opaque, beige in color.

Not thick like a lotion, but not runny like plain hyaluronic either.

One pump, in the palm of my hand, turned vertical and it barely moves towards the floor.

I’m a bit of a skincare junkie, but am a little wary of C serums (some brands burn my skin).

I put this one to the ultimate test (for me anyway) and dared to put this on my face and neck after a blade/foam shave in the shower.

The box and the page both say to use one pump.

Hmmm….maybe that will be enough for you.

I used 2 pumps for face, plus 2 pumps for neck.

There was no burn (Yay!) especially impressive after shaving.
There was no other sensation either (cooling, tingling etc).

Nice hydration, a little tacky for about 15 minutes and then a slight firming (but not tightening).

Overall comfortable, and it was the only product I used after that shave/shower, on my face.

This is described as fragrance free; I did not detect a fragrance.

Like it; a little out of my price range though.

    Glad I ordered.

I’ve given a 4 star rating based on initial impressions and *perceived* quality, not on long term use or results.

I hope this review has been helpful and enables you to make an informed purchase decision.

I rarely give an overall 5 star rating.

This is a thicker serum, which I was super happy about because I’m really not a fan of “watery” serums. One pump covered my entire face, and my skin absorbed it well. It feels gentle and makes my skin feel very smooth and silky after completely drying.
