  1. C. Michael

This True Botanicals body lotion has a plant based emphasis and a moderately strong scent from fragrant essentials oils, such as copaifera officinalis resin oil, amyris balsamifera bark oil, eucalyptus oil, oregano oil, rosemary oil and so on. Even natural fragrant oil pose a risk of sensitivity or allergy like regular perfume, though I have sensitive skin and allergies and haven’t had an issue with this lotion (though someone else could).

I’m not a huge fragrance fan, but I enjoy this gender neutral scent. I don’t find it overpowering so long as I focus the application on certain areas, such as my hands and arms or my legs. I have dry skin so I end up applying an unscented moisturizer as needed to other areas as I just don’t do well being engulfed by any scent. From how it smells on me (will vary by person), I’d describe this as an uncommon herbaceous and woody scent with peppery and sandalwood notes.

This lotion has a lovely texture. It’s not runny like some lotions and instead has substance but absorbs well and isn’t heavy or greasy. It leaves my dry skin well moisturized, comfortable, soft and smooth. The hydration and likely the hyaluronic acid quickly improve a crepey look (especially my upper arms and calves) I’m getting with age, but I can’t yet speak to long term benefits. This lotion looks elegant countertop and has a pump that works well. This is a premium lotion especially nice for those who enjoy aromatic oils. Like it. 4 stars. Made in USA.

I really like this very pleasing smelling hand and body lotion. I have not used it on my face, but have used it on most of my body. It does a great job moisturizing even the most dry areas like my elbows and heels. I tend to mostly use it on my hands and arms. The bottle isn’t super big and won’t last long if it’s routinely used to the whole body. It does spread well and a little goes a long way which is nice for the higher price point. Easy to store and take for travel.

This Retinol lotion claims to work 2x faster without side effects. It is plant based and contains lactic acid to help smooth. It also claims to be hydrating and nourishing. For starters, the bottle is TINY for the price. If I used this as a regular lotion it would be gone in a week. The lotion itself wasn’t any more moisturizing than a typical body lotion. In fact, I found it less moisturizing than my regular lotions. I saw no improvement with creepiness or wrinkles- I have drugstore brands that show immediate results. The scent is atrocious. It is an natural herby, old lady scent that lingers and lingers. I haven’t used it long enough to see if the Retinol claims are true. At this price point and considering the small amount of lotion and the scent I will apply it sparingly to only the areas I need to see retinol results on my body.

This Phyto-Retinol Anti-Aging body lotion by True Botanicals is high quality moisturizer. I found it to have a lovely, light, herbal scent that is refreshing and isn’t overpowering. The lotion is lightweight and non-greasy. It goes on smoothly and absorbs quickly. I did not have any reaction to the ingredients in this lotion. No redness or flaking like I do get with some retinol productions.

The lotion comes in a dark amber pump bottle which is rather small, given the price point, but you don’t need a lot of this product to get a good result. I would say it hydrates well and helps you retain moisture throughout the day. I’ve been using it on elbows, knees, heels and the saggy, wrinkly skin around my neckline. After about a month, I notice some improvement in my neckline. The skin tone is more even and wrinkles are less pronounced. The only not so great feature of this lotion is that it is expensive, especially if you are using it as an all over body lotion.

I’m happy with the quality of this product. It blends smoothly and is smooth without an overly greasy feeling. There is a slight mocha tint to the product that fades quickly as the lotion blends into the skin.

I find the scent of this lotion a bit unusual. The smell is distinct, but it’s unlike anything I’ve encountered before. It makes me think of tropical fruit and woodworking, so I guess you should avoid it if a merger of those two smells seems unpleasant to you. For me, the smell is neutral. I’m initially surprised when I sniff it and then I quickly forget about it.

The dispenser is well-made, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to use. It allows for easy portioning of the lotion. I appreciate that it can easily be slipped into a locked position in case I need to carry the bottle with me somewhere.

As for effectiveness, I still look my age. Frankly, I’m always skeptical of high-priced products meant to slow the signs of aging. Maybe it will be effective for you? I’m ambivalent about the overall usefulness of the product, but if you want to spend a significant amount of money on an anti-aging body lotion, this one seems as good as any.

On my really dry skin this absorbs really well and doesn’t leave it behind. Any sticky or oily residue. On my wife doesn’t have really dry skin. It’s a little excessive behind an oily residue. On my really dry skin this absorbs really well and doesn’t leave it behind. Any sticky or oily residue on my wife doesn’t have really dry skin. It’s a little excessive behind an oily residue so if you’re like me and have extremely dry skin that usually absorbs lotion quickly, and dries out shortly after this is a good lotion, despite it being a little bit pricey.

My wife has been using this….she likes it very much. Satisfied on the scent, very light. Leaves her skin soft, very much. The value for the money. Hmmm. Again, a little goes a long way so she can give it a four. A well-known brand yes, so we were borderline on this. It’s a fabulous product that fits the True Botanicals brand.
