This high-dose Vitamin C serum from the dermatologist-founded, New Jersey-based skincare company is designed to brighten skin and fade discoloration and hyperpigmentation. Neostrata’s website advises using every morning, but if you have even slightly sensitive skin, I’d suggest starting with a few times a week and doing a patch test on your décolletage before using on your face. Neostrata also suggests pairing this with their Illuminating Serum.
This uses Vitamin C combined with a Gluconolactone, a PHA acid, to exfoliate and brighten, alongside Feverfew Extract and green tea, antioxidants that help soothe skin and repair environmental damage. Reminder that while you should never, ever skip sunscreen, it’s especially important to use daily SPF, no matter what the weather, after using any Vitamin C/acid product, as they can make you more susceptible to UV damage.
This is a liquid serum, dispensed via eye dropper, that can be a little difficult to apply. (I prefer a bit more of a gel.) It does absorb quickly, without stickiness. After several years of use, in various forms, I think my skin now has a better tolerance for C-serums than it once did, as I didn’t have any sort of reaction to even this higher dose, though I still wouldn’t use it more than every other day. Vitamin C has a definite, noticeable effect on evening your skin’s tone and texture. I, personally, prefer to use these sorts of smoothing serums at night, under a more powerful moisturizer or facial oil, with a Hyaluronic acid serum for day use.

I like using a vitamin C serum in the mornings on my skin. The NEOSTRATA ENLIGHTEN is a 15% vitamin C serum that is combined with 2% Gluconolactone (Polyhydroxy Acid) and green tea extract and also 1% Feverfew Extract. Polyhydroxy acid is a gentle chemical exfoliant which exfoliates dead skin cells.
It is a thin serum with an eye dropper style applicator. While the serum is thin, it doesn’t feel like water but has a nice light oil consistency.
I have really liked using it and my skin feels and looks great.

I was concerned PHA might cause sting but absolutely not.
I hope to see lightenin of pigmentation. It’s too early but I’ll provide an update later.

I’ve tried several vitamin c products but this is the best so far. I am on my second bottle already. No oxidation. The texture is more on the liquidy side as opposed to serum. It is very effective in brightening the facial skin. Vitamin c is an important antioxidant and this one works well.

ENLIGHTEN 15% Vitamin C + PHA Serum
I’ve been using this vitamin c serum consecutively for a week but I didn’t notice any obvious enlighten effect so far. The feeling of this serum is not bad though, it’s a little oily at the beginning but gets better after spreading. Easy to use and easy to apply. I’ll come back and give an update if any magic happens. But so far, it’s just an okay product for me that doesn’t work in the way it advertised.
