A very good facial moisturizer that is ideal for mature skin, or for skin that leans towards being on the dry side. Not something that I would recommend for those with oily skin, but great for drier skin. I have combination skin and really like this moisturizer though I reserve using this for my drier days. Nourishes skin and leaves it in good condition. I could easily see that it had diminished my fine lines and softened some of the deeper ones, especially along my forehead. My skin also felt firmer.

This will leave the skin with a healthy glow that shines. It almost looks oily, but really isn’t, though I do tend to have it leave the slightest bit of dewiness once its set. When I don’t feel like dealing with that, I just gently blot away the excess and all is good. The shine stays but without any of the residuals.

From what I can tell, this is quite clean and should not irritate most users. It has the slightest scent that is super mild and is gone in seconds. I find that the scent is on the pleasant side and enjoy smelling it when I can even notice that it’s there.

First, the good news: this is a light moisturizer that goes on easily and absorbs quickly. It does not feel greasy to the touch. The bottle looks nice on my vanity. It looks elegant and high-end, and it is attractive enough to be given as a gift.

Now for the drawbacks: I dislike the smell of this product. It’s difficult to put into words. It’s not overly clinical, but it’s also not floral scented or fruity smelling. I’m not really sure what to compare this smell to, I just know that I don’t like smelling it all day.  Based on the price, I expected it to do a better job of moisturizing my face, but it doesn’t perform as well as my regular moisturizer. I have dry skin, and yes, it does make certain parts of my face feel soft, such as my cheeks, but other areas, such as my chin, do not feel moisturized.

This product is far too expensive for the results I am experiencing, and I would not order it again.

  3. My Two Cents

I love this moisturizer, and it delivers what it promises. I have acne prone skin with increased hyperpigmentation due to the harsh products I have been using to fight my acne and sun exposure for years. Even though I would say I have combination type of skin, because of all the treatments, my skin barrier has been weakened and can become more sensitive to environmental factors. I use those moisturizers together with the same brand cleanser and serum and together all these 3 products help to bring my skin a healthier look by restoring good microclimate with live probiotics. I am very satisfied how well it absorbs, hydrates and improves the look. I am still using my acne medications and it was very important to me the hydration and health back as well. I am satisfied with the results.

  4. My Two Cents

Tried this brand for the first time and felt very fresh! So, I wasn’t certain exactly what this was. I mean, moisturizer? Primer? I have combination, sensitive skin that is both eczema and acne prone. I typically get eczema around my mouth in the winter from the dryness,I found this and loved the benefits and the ingredients, so I thought I’d give it a try. I was a little nervous the first time trying it because the consistency was more on watery side and I wasn’t sure if based on that it would provide enough hydration for my skin. Well, was I wrong! This stuff packs a punch! My skin drank it right up, but enough to where my skin looked noticeably different. Hydrated, healthy, bouncy. I think this moisturizer acts great as a primer too and will look great underneath makeup!

For $85 this moisturizer should do it all, but it doesn’t. It’s a daytime moisturizer, but contains no SPF. I’ve been using it as a “probiotic booster” in a 1:1 ratio with my usual AM moisturizer (with spf30) and after a few months, still can’t see any significant improvement in tone or texture. Certainly nothing to justify such a hefty price tag. In addition, this product needs to be shaken before use – a detail that should be the first thing written in the directions, but for some reason is one of the last things written near the bottom of the label, in with the warnings & precautions. This kind of delegitimizes the brand, in my opinion.
I do like the smell & texture of the lotion, it’s got a tangy/salty scent & lightweight texture & is very easily mixed with other liquids. However, not worth the price tag & won’t be buying more when this is gone.

  6. Rivendell

LaFlore Daily Defense Moisturizer is a good moisturizer. However, it is a REALLY EXPENSIVE moisturizer. Is it worth it?

I don’t think so. The moisturizer is pleasant, and feels emollient and dewy on my skin. However, it doesn’t feel as moisturizing as some other moisturizers I use routinely, and that are significantly less expensive. I’m not crazy about the scent, either.

LaFlore certainly isn’t bad; I merely believe a lower price point might be more agreeable. It does moisturize nicely, but I haven’t noticed this moisturizer making my skin as soft and smooth as some other moisturizers I use. Anyway, my verdict is that this moisturizer is fairly average, and therefore overpriced.

PROS: Light weight moisturizer that leaves skin soft and supple.
CONS: Everything else. I didn’t find the moisturizer moisturizing at all. I have oily acne prone skin, and this just made my skin feel tacky. I used this underneath SPF one day while out at the pool and got sweat into my eye and my eye would not stop burning and watering. I swear it was THIS product that had gotten into my eye. I’ve used the same face SPF and never had this happen before. I couldn’t get the product out of my eye and rinsed it several times. It took hours before it would stop hurting and watering. I realize this isn’t exactly the products fault, but the fact that sweat made it run into my eyes and cause that big of a reaction makes me give pause to using during summer months. The scent is also very strong and overpowering. It’s a very strong medical/clinical fragrance.
