I decided to try this, as I was feeling self conscious about shaving cream cans and the waste they produce, not to mention aerosol gases. The gel serves its purpose, but it doesn’t feel quite as protective as shaving cream/foam out of a can, and the shave is just a bit less close. Overall, though, it does the job, and it’s easier to use than shave bars and brushes (which also seem to waste water and not shave as closely as canned foam). For the gel, you still will have a plastic (hopefully recyclable) bottle at the end.
