This stick I have isnt working, as the tube will not move at all to get at the deodorant. Used a few times before it got stuck, excellent deodorant! Just the packaging isnt working for me. I do appreciate the 100% plastic free. I just wish is was working better.

As someone trying to reduce plastic waste in my daily purchases, I’m thrilled with Native Deodorant’s cucumber scent in its sturdy cardboard packaging. Not only is it a more sustainable option, but it’s also surprisingly durable!

The scent is fresh and pleasant, and most importantly, it hasn’t irritated my very sensitive skin or caused any cysts like other deodorants have in the past. What I love most is that it doesn’t develop that awful putrid smell that some non-antiperspirant deodorants tend to get. Even on my sweatiest workdays, it holds up well and keeps me feeling fresh.

If you’re looking for an eco-friendly deodorant that really works, this one is a winner!

  3. Die Eule

Pleasant smelling, no residue and love the eco-friendly packaging!

  4. Fash

So before I bought this product I read a lot of reviews about how everyone loves this but have trouble opening it. I still decided to try it. It got delivered today. .. I see EXACTLY what they are talking about.

But there’s a simple solution. .. just cut two tiny wedges in the lid like I did in the pic. One in each side. And it will open smoothly.

I mean ideally the company should just make that change in their packaging. That will be easier.

Some “unscented” products aren’t, but this one is. No detectable scent, and it stops body odor better than the name brand that I had been using for years. Also, no plastic to add to the waste stream. The only drawback is that the last 1/2 inch or so of the stick comes loose from the applicator and is a bit messy to apply.

  7. Fash

The fragrance is pleasant and the packaging is PLASTIC-FREE! It’s effective for me for a day’s work; the brands that advertise 48+ hours are only effective for one day, smell sour to my nose, and use plastic: 🙁

Although a high price point, I order this deodorant every now and again to help detox impurities. It works for odor and mild perspiration. It’s not something you want if your doing a work out but it’s good for every day use. No issues with skin sensitivity even after shaving your under arms.

As a person who prefers fragrance free body care, the Native deodorant represents a good option that’s also sustainable and (slightly more) natural.

Personally I don’t like any of the scented options of Native, maybe the Coconut Vanilla is tolerable. The scents are too strong, but I know that others like that. I want my body care to smell of nothing at all; if I want to smell good, I’ll use a fragrance afterwards.
The fragrance free Native deodorant helps me smell of nothing… just clean. It’s not the most efficient deodorant (not even from the more natural options), but I’m not also the most sweaty or stinky person. Most time of the year the Native deodorant is just enough; and if I hike for a day in the hot summer… there will be more stinky and sweaty things than my arm pits.

The selling point for me with native is the plastic free packaging, since I try to be less wasteful and more sustainable in my daily life.
Don’t be fooled by the cardboard packaging. Yes, in time it gets slightly oily and you can see in the picture that after a couple of months the cardboard looks yellow… but it’s perfectly functional and won’t disintegrate before you use up the deodorant.

I have sensitive skin and the Native deodorant fragrance free doesn’t irritate my armpits even after shaving. Usually from the regular deodorants / antiperspirant with aluminum my armpits get slightly darkened, with Native I have no issue.

The deodorant is creamy and glides easily. It stains the clothes, but I have a solution for that. I apply the deodorant at night and it the morning I wipe any excess.

In the past, I’ve really liked Native deodorant. It works well, the formula is very nice on my skin, the scents are a little strong for me, but not unpleasant.

This No-Plastic version is awful. The actual words I want to use would make my review not get published, please use your imagination.

The cardboard containers either are too hard to open and close or they are so loose that the cap won’t stay on. If too loose, the deodorant dries out and is very painful against the skin and you end up throwing out most of the stick. This is awful because this deodorant is EXPENSIVE. And how are you saving the planet if you make a product that ends up having to be thrown away after just being used a few times?

If the container is difficult to open and close, then you end up damaging the container trying to get it opened or closed (which can lead to the same problem as if the container is too loose). Not only that, but when the lid finally pops off, if you have used more than half the stick, the stick of deodorant has a very high chance of jumping out of the cardboard tube and landing on the floor.

The deodorant isn’t held in the container by anything beyond gravity, and maybe hopes and dreams. So, once you get to the last 1/4 of a stick, it becomes nearly impossible to use because any pressure against the stick makes it fall out of the container and hit the floor. Which also ends up deforming the stick so you can’t get it back into the container… and. you throw out more deodorant.

There is no advancement mechanism, so you have to reach up inside the tube and push the cardboard under the stick up to advance the deodorant. Which works… except that there’s nothing preventing the stick from just pushing itself back down either when it wants or when you use it. You end up having to clutch at the stick, through the cardboard tube, and hope that you have a good enough grip to hold it in place while you use it.

I’m used to using deodorant until there is literally nothing left of the stick. So it offends me horribly to have paid this much for deodorant, but then have to throw out nearly half of it because the sticks dried out to the point of not being able to be used, or not being able to use the last quarter or so because there is no way to hold it in the tube.

I will not buy this again, I will not recommend it to anyone, and will in fact, recommend avoiding it. Which is sad and frustrating, since, as I said at the beginning, the deodorant itself is a really good product. But this cardboard tube is -please insert the insulting word of your choice here.

Honestly, either stick with a version in a plastic tube or buy a different brand.

Native deodorant is my favorite natural deodorant there is! I tried it due to skin allergies but love it because it’s soft, smells great and has natural ingredients. But this paper tube….. I wanted to love it and save the world but I hated it! The inside tore, the rim rolled, the bottom came off. It was a nightmare. Sorry, I’m switching back to the plastic tube.
