My mom found these a few years ago and we haven’t looked back since. They have replaced pricey spray tanning. They are perfect for winter months. In the summer, I can now even avoid harmful tanning from the sun. They are quick, easy and convenient. Great to take on vacation for any necessary touch ups. I use them regularly! I live in MN. It’s cold, gray and the sun doesn’t shine for 9 months of the year. And I’m pale. Very pale. So pale my skin turns purple when the wind blows and blisters when the sun shines. I’ve been using sunless products for 23 years. Forever searching for something better, easier or cheaper. I’ve tried pretty much everything out there. From $-$$$. Trust me when I say, this is it. It’s worth the money.

I have used a lot of self tanning products, and always had problems with them. I started using the tan towels a couple years ago and I really love them. I never get streaks, and my tan comes out perfect! My only advice would be to wear a pair of latex gloves. That way none of the product gets on your palms!

I used these 13 years ago and liked them. Recently, I found 2 old, old ones, and after all that time, they were STILL GOOD!! So, I ordered some more! Be sure and be careful around knees, ankles, elbows, wrists. It tends to get too dark in those areas and looks fake. Other than that, I’d say to order them.😊

I discovered Tan Towels a few years ago, and to this day no other self tanning product stacks up (I’ve used St. Tropez both tinted and untinted mousses, Viva Liberata, Designer Skin, LovingTan, Banana Boat…) Always keep them on hand for special occasions/events when I want to quickly & easily get a dramatic, noticeable tan with no fuss.
Main pros for me are: (1) Truly untinted/won’t stain. The self tanner goes on completely clear on application (no instant bronze color from tinted formula). You can literally sleep in white sheets naked after application & it won’t stain.
(2) Wipe style application. The wipe style application makes applying this to your body as easy as using a Clorox wipe. Completely liquid formula dries to absolutely nothing in a few minutes. Virtually zero heaviness/film left on skin, feels like you just got out of shower and dried off. So amazing- can use in morning time and go about day normally (wouldn’t recommend sweating/active for 4+ hours though).
(3) Very fast color. 4 hours after proper application your skin will be dramatically tanner. Think this probably has to do with the fact that its all liquid (which penetrates skin quicker compared a lotion/mousse/gel). It’s literally astounding- I’ve tried the St Tropez Deep Dark 3-Hour Express mousse & it doesn’t do a fraction of what this does.
(4) Noticeable/dramatic color. I’m very fair & still always use the Plus Tan Towels. The Before and After is dramatic… People who see me a day or so before using Tan Towels (& then see me again after using them) always say “Whoa!” Did you get a spray tan/go to the beach? etc. Not only are you darker, but it has the most natural “glow” effect that is very eye-catching.
(5) Perfect for FACIAL USE. I always use the Tan Towels on my face. Comes out perfectly, liquid formula doesn’t cause any heaviness/breakouts & allows for the application of other stuff like moisturizer/serum on top. Give it 5-10min to dry, then apply moisturizer/etc to a flat top kabuki brush (I like $2 ELF Powder brush). Stipple/bounce the product on to your face to avoid swiping & disturbing underlying product.
(6) Long lasting/even fade. On my body, Tan Towels last a lengthy time even with regular showering and toweling off (I don’t exfoliate body). 3-5 days later there is still a noticeable difference in color between my arm and the white “line” where my wrist meets palm (edge of tan). Fades gradually & not in splotches like many tanners.
I’ve seen a lot of reviews saying this product has made them orange… I will say, in all my self tanner experiences, every single product (regardless of brand) has some degree of orange factor to it. This one has been one of the least to do so, for me. I think a lot of it has to do with proper application: I’m a Nazi when it comes to applying properly. It only takes a few more minutes & can be the difference between success or failure. Shower prior, use a gritty exfoliating scrub (St. Ives Apricot), dry off completely, wait 10-20 min for body to cool, put on vinyl gloves from pharmacy to both hands, regular lotion to elbows/knees/ankles, use the wipes in a bottom to top motion & then blend out in circular motion evenly. When wipe is basically dry, go over areas again in circles to blend. Then let dry for 4+ hours in cool temp setting (74+ degrees max). Do tops of hands last, taking one glove off at a time. I always apply it to my face; let dry 5-10 minutes on face, then apply any other products needed on top (like moisturizer/serum) with a flat top kabuki makeup brush (I like ELF Powder). Put moisturizer on brush, bounce the product on to face in strictly patting/stipple motion (like using a Beautyblender) to ensure you don’t disturb anything underneath.
This technique always works for me. Avoid using any acidic/exfoliating products on the face (if tanned) during the time you want your fake tan to be most prominent (I skip toner too). Will just shorten life of tan.
Tan Towels are my best kept secret!

I have been using Tan Towels for over ten years and absolutely love them. I am fair skinned and use the Tan Towel Plus and they work great to obtain the color I want. I use them at night before bed and sometimes again the next day if I have an event I want to have a deeper tan for. They do have a slight smell but it is not strong and I do not mind it at all. They are very easy to use. My only suggestions are to not use on your feet, hands, knees or elbows first to avoid streaking and make sure you wash your hands on the palm side immediately if not using gloves for application. I have PMLE and cannot tolerate the sun the way I used to so these have a been a lifesaver!
