Brown skin girl here!! It works but really strong for my skin so I mix with my face cream, just 2 drops. After 2-3 my face looks great!!
Fyi I only use it once a day. I don’t want to over do it.

I’ve used a lot of retinol and retinoid products, so my skin is accustomed to them. Still, when I first used this French Pharmacy RetRx 314 (3%) I found it to be drying. I opted to follow with a more intense moisturizer as well as do two days of use, one day of “rest” for a while. My skin tolerated this fine for daily use in a couple of weeks. I do find that this makes my skin look “fresher” and it has an overall healthier look. As of yet, I don’t see a noticeable decrease in fine lines and wrinkles. However, since I’ve been using retinol products for at least a year already, I didn’t really expect to see a huge difference from a new brand (even though it is stronger). I do find that this works better than some brands that I’ve tried. I like that it’s a liquid rather than a cream because I feel that I use less that way. However, if I put it on when my skin is completely dry and bare, I find that it soaks in before I can spread it well. If I use a hyaluronic acid serum first, wait a minute or so, and then apply this I can spread it well. Also, the bottle says “apply to clean skin in the morning, follow with moisturizer”. Half way down the product listing page, however, it says “regenerates skin overnight”, so it seems to be giving mixed messages about when to apply. I never use my retinol in the morning, and I always use sunscreen the next morning after using retinol at night. I didn’t see anywhere on this product that says that retinol makes you more sensitive to the sun, but it does. Be mindful of that, and use a good daily spf product. If you’ve never used a retinol, this may be a little strong to start with. And my understanding with retinol is that generally speaking, the darker your skin the more sensitive it will be to retinol. There’s tons of great information online about using retinol and the difference between retinol and retinoid. It’s worth reading to save yourself from sensitive, dry, irritated skin. But building a tolerance to retinol/retinoid really is worth it. It definitely has huge benefits.

This formula contains more retinol than most retinol solutions I have used in the past. Make sure to keep that in mind before using since retinols can be harsh on the skin and it takes some getting used to. I do have rosacea and super sensitive skin so I only use this about once a week and it still dries out my skin. I only use this at night after washing my face and make sure to apply a thick moisturizer to bed. Make sure NOT to apply this product in the daytime as it will make your skin very easy to burn and can cause irritation. Wear a good sunscreen the day after applying this retinol at night. I have seen some nice results. Skin feels more tight and plump. Pores are definitely smaller and skin looks clearer and more youthful. This is a good retinol and it would be a nice gift. Price is a little too high for me

My skin does feel slightly tight after applying, but it eases and after adding moisturizer, I am good to go. It may be psychological, but I do feel after using this for a few weeks my skin looks brighter and less dull. My skin also does feel nice. I agree with others who say the color is a bit odd, but overall a decent product.
