I have been using 3-minute Polident tablets to clean my retainer at night. A box of 120 costs 5.88 at my local store. I liked that Polident left a minty flavor on the appliance and turned the water a bubbly green color, but they never claimed to kill up to 99% of germs. I would often find a white film, grime, or just dirt in general left over after using the Polident at night. Therefore, I wanted to try Dental Duty.
With Dental Duty, the tablets are a tad more expensive, but you get a lot more cleaning power for the price. The blue tablet soaks in warm, but not hot water for 15-20 minutes, but it can go longer, if needed. The water will eventually turn clear. It is important to rinse the appliance and your hands well after touching the tablets and soaked-water because there is an ingredient in Dental Duty that is an allergen. Dental Duty turned my old, dull-looking never-to-look new again appliance into a clear, all stains removed, and no odor at all. There is no taste or residual smell, not even a minty after flavor. All in all, this is a much better product and cleans much deeper and better!

I wanted a cleaner for my Invisaline’s that would take some of the yellowing off, that regular brushing does not do. These work great! It takes a while, until the liquid goes from blue to clear, but it works. They are sparkling clean and clear. No taste, as I rinse them.

I have been using this product for several years. I am not sure if the formulation has changed, but the results remain very good. I use a clear night guard and before using this product it would become densely opaque after several months of use. With use of Dental Duty it still becomes lightly opaque, but appears much cleaner. There is no taste associated with using this product.

We use Dental Duty to clean our mouth nightguard (used to protect teeth during sleep from clenching). These are great. They clean well and don’t leave any stain (color) on the clear nightguards even though we leave them soaking all day. It only takes about 15 minutes to be clean, we just leave them for convenience. Previously we used a product that was 2-part, a liquid and a powder, but it would leave some blue stain if we left them in. This is a great product.

This is an update
I just purchased another hox of 240 tablets/Dental Duty and noticed the following changes:,
The wrappers the tablets come in are now solid white. The previous ones had blue printing saying “denture cleanser” in English & French. Also the tablet is different. The previous one was more blue in color and smaller than the new one. I’ll have to see if the effectiveness is the same. So far there’s still no blue or other color staining which is good. Don’t know why they changed the tablet and think it’s not good to have any product in unmarked white wrapper. Just my opinion.
Update 1/25/20:
The tablets do work the same as the previous ones. We use these to clean our night guards every night (guards to protect teeth from clenching while sleeping). So although the packaging and tablet are different in appearance they still work the same and are a good product.

At first I was nervous about using this solution with my Invisalign trays but my fears were surely replaced with delight. I have a friend that also has Invisalign and he doesn’t use any cleaner on his and simply rinses them off.
Using Dental Duty my trays look as clear as brand new out of the package, if not better. My friend’s however without using a cleaning solution and water only cloud and just don’t look all that good as time progresses.
In cleaning my Invisalign trays I remove them one at a time and rinse them on removal. Then I drop them into a tray holding only water. Once both trays are in the cleaning tray I drop in a Dental Duty tablet in the middle of the water between the Invisalign trays. The tablets quickly begin to create bubbles as they dissolve in the water. There is a blue hue to the water from the tablets as the action takes place. When I go to put the trays back in my mouth I simply remove them from the cleaner and get them wet with cold water. I prefer to put the Invisalign in wet.
I have use the cleaner in as little time of 15 minutes and have kept them in the solution as long as 12+ hours (I know the Invisalign should be in your mouth 22+ hours daily but some times I’m bad). Regardless of the time the Dental Duty has worked out well for me and there was no worry of damage to the Invisalign. I would suggest that you leave the trays in the cleaner for 30+ minutes for the best effectiveness.
I Highly Recommend this cleaning solution.
