When I put these in my braids, I was WOWED. I have never decorated my braids before so it make me really happy to look so fancy. However, once the novelty wore off, the issues that I began having with them were a little aggravating.
First and foremost, if your braids are even a little too big or too small, certain decorations will not work on them. For some braids I had to double up the little gold bands because-while they are adjustable-they weren’t big enough to go all the way around some braids. On the other hand, the swirly coils are NOT adjustable so, if your braids aren’t big enough to hold them in place, they will just slide off. Another problem that I had with the adjustable gold cuffs were that they commonly slipped down my braids because they wouldn’t stay in place.
Needless to say, the gold hoops are my favorite because you can actually open them up (with pliers) and insert them INTO the braids so they won’t go anywhere.
Another issue I had was hair pulling. The crown shaped cuffs and the swirly coils very often got caught on my actual hair and it was painful. A couldn’t even really just move my braids around without it happening.
Lastly I come to the color. The color of these decorations is beautiful…at first. But then it wears off. I don’t know what I did to make this start happening or if it was just inevitable, but the color faded off before I even took a shower. Maybe it was the products I put on my hair? I don’t really know. It just kinda sucks because they aren’t very pretty anymore when that happens.
In the end, I only ended up keeping the hoops in my hair and I took everything else out because they became an ugly copper/silver and I was tired of having my hair pulled.
Over all, I got what I paid for but I wouldn’t recommend these to anyone who is looking for something for longtime use.
