Was really excited about this soap after reading the reviews because I’ve tried pretty much everything – natural and the strong stuff. This didn’t work for me at all though. I’ve been using it for almost 2 weeks and was outside on our patio for less than 10mins brushing our dog and I came in and had 5 bites! The soap is pleasant, but if you don’t like the smell of citronella you’ll probably not like this. The smell doesn’t really last long or linger after you’ve showered though. Luckily, I like the smell of citronella. It doesn’t lather as much as a “normal” soap would, but it does of course still lather well. I noticed a couple people say it stains the tub/shower but I haven’t noticed this.

I am one of those people who get eaten alive by mosquitoes and ticks. I’ve tried deet, pine, vanilla, etc. My summers are riddled with itchy legs, arms, back, and even places I won’t mention. One of my Punjabi friends who is a 10/10 every day of the week told me “why are you getting eaten up? Do you not know about citronella soap?” No, lady, I dont! She sends me this link. I was so skeptical at first. It took me 3 months to buy it. I got ate alive at a BBQ and my husband finally put his foot down and made me buy it. Fine! I’ll buy it!

The first time I used it, I was like “OMG. This STINKS!” But, it lathered well and actually made me feel clean and fresh. It’s not drying at all. Convinced I would smell like a can of fermented mint, I ran to my husband. He has the nose of a bloodhound and can smell anything. Even the faintest perfumes will spin him into a tizzy of sneezing. “Do I stink? Do I need to wash this off?” Nope. I passed the husband test! He said I smell fine.

I immediately ran outside to test the soap. And I got ate up. Ahhh! I was nearly in tears as I came back inside to my very level headed husband who said, “it’s soap… you need to keep using it for it to work.” He kept reminding me to use the smelly soap every time I showered.

And I did! I really don’t remember how long it took to become effective, but I went to another bbq maybe a month later where the mosquitoes were terrorizing everyone. Somehow, I went from being the lady who looked like a walking disease with bug bites everywhere to the lady who was completely unaffected by the tiny vampires carrying away small children.

How do I know it wasn’t coincidence? Because I forgot to wash my feet in the soap! My arms had no bites. My legs had one single bite. My feet were eaten alive. Yes, the soap doesn’t work where you don’t apply it! Ugh. Live and learn. Now I wash my feet in the stuff too.

Is it worth it? Only if you never want to worry about bug spray again. As for me. We have a stash of citronella soap.

I rub it on my face arms and hands. I showered with it, but I couldn’t bare the smell

This works so well that I gave away most of my first pack as gifts to other people. I am normally a mosquito magnet, but with regular goose, I had not gotten any bites for weeks until I forgot to use it while I was sick and got some bites.

I was hoping that this would help keep the mosquitos off, and it does to a degree… but you still need repellent if you’re someone who always gets bit a lot.

The bars are pretty small so you do go through them fairly quickly, but they are still a good value.

Smell is true to citronella and lather is good. They leave my skin feeling nice, moisturized, and clean.

I bought this soap because I was going out of the country and I heard this soap helps with mosquitos. It does just that. Smells nice yet leaves skin a tad bit dry, but I think its worth it for not having any bug bites and being super annoyed about being itchy. Im sure it has more benefits than keeping bugs away being that it is a medicated soap bar. 10/10 I recommend.

We live in the country so mice are a fact of life, but they usually stay out of the house until they are certain that we have left to go south for the winter. This year, however, we have been almost overrun with the nasty little buggers. I did some research and decided to order both ultrasonic plug-in devices together with this citronella scented soap which I cut into small pieces and discretely placed in all rooms in the house. There immediately appeared to be no mice presence but, for good measure, I ordered some traps which I armed with peanut butter bait and after about 10 days, neither of the traps have been disturbed. I have not used this soap for any other purpose but it has a very pleasant scent and I will continue to use it to deter mice.

I bought this because I read that it helps with keeping mosquitoes away. Mosquitoes love my family and we have noticed the benefits of using this soap. Another upside is that my teen uses it as face wash and it has improved skin clarity.
