Second Update:
I’ve had this curling iron for 2 months and the black stuff is starting to chip off already.
Update: customer service got in touch with me and let me know that the popping sound is from engine oil that is used to make the iron. Said the sound should go away within 3-5 uses.
I like this curling iron because of the long barrel and it does make pretty curls, but this is my SECOND time using it and it’s making weird clicking noises constantly and it’s driving me nuts.

I bought this curling iron to replace my broken one, and I’m impressed by its performance. It heats up quickly and has a great grip that keeps my hair in place while rolling. It’s an excellent heating tool that gives my curls a fantastic look and holds them in well.

I have thick hair and the length is just past my shoulders. I’ve always wanted a longer barrel curling iron but never took the plunge. I am so glad I finally did! This long barrel really helps to make nice curls, whether it’s a beachy wave or a full curl….this iron does the trick! I do wish the clamp was a tiny bit stronger, but I haven’t had any issues so far. I contemplated buying the larger size, but the 1″ barrel is working nicely for my hair….the curls aren’t too kinky…just a nice perfect curl. I feel like it gets hot enough to curl my hair nicely and I haven’t even used the highest heat setting yet. It doesn’t damage my hair or get caught, so I am very happy so far! I’ve used it several times and I hope it lasts a long time because I am very happy with it.

Just for reference to my hair, my hair is thick, it is about an inch past my shoulders, it is hard to curl. I have so many hair tools that I have purchased from either my friend who does my hair or from the company’s website. My hair will not curl, until I got this curling iron. I have had about a week now by I am impressed so far. The long barrel was a game changer for me. So here are things I am impressed so far….. It curls my hair!!! I was having issues with shorter barrels that it would just curl the ends which is not a pretty look!!! I have the long barrel 1in barrel. It turns off after 60mins. I also love the long cord, it comes with two gloves to prevent burning your hands. So far the one negative observation is the tip does get hot, not as hot as the curling iron itself so the gloves do come in handy.
The price is great for the quality! I recommend this curling iron!!!

I wanted a curling iron with an auto shut off because mornings are hectic, am I right!? This one is much higher quality and han I though it was going to be. Heats up fast and work really well. The little kick stand dealie is coated in something (rubber?) so it’s really nice – keeps the tool in place when it’s on the counter unlike some that are uncoated metal. A small detail but appreciated. If this lasts I will purchase again or recommend to friends.

I have used Hot Tools in the past and I can say this curling iron surpassed all my expectations. I have used on super long hair and shoulder length hair. Curls stay in great. Super easy to use. Such a great value for the performance of this iron.
