I recently stopped using this for a bit, because my mother-in-law bought me a (decently expensive) hair product, so I felt compelled to use that one. Nah. Also tried others, and they are just often lacking. I have thick hair and also want some volume AND hold.
This does both; has great hold, and it’s also not so rock-solid that it can’t be shaped and re-shaped.

This hair product is a go to for guys with fine and oily hair like myself. It lasts all day and is popular because it holds up, smells good, and easy for styling. I would avoid the imitations, stick with the American Crew brand for forming cream. They don’t work as well from my experiences.

This stuff is great. I have been using Forming Cream for quite a while now, and I must say that this is authentic and not some cheap crud made in China. It’s normally around $15 bucks per 3oz at your local Walmart/Target, so I thought why not check out Amazon to see if it’s cheaper? What it does to my hair is amazing. I normally style my hair (which is around 5in long on the top and #2 on the sides) as a modern quiff/pomp and Forming Cream provides the best hold/finish and pliability as possible. It isn’t exactly matte, but it provides the perfect amount of shine to make my hair look thicker, fuller, and healthier. It doesn’t make your hair hard like cheap gel does. It feels very tacky/sticky and almost webby like. The smell is very manly and it is hard for me to stop smelling it.
My one and only complaint is that the product doesnt look like it is described. It has a pucture of Elvis on it like the picture attached.
Other than that, this stuff is amazing. If you have bought before buy it here. It is a milestone chaper ($25 for 3 vs. $15 for 1). And this stuff will last you months to years! If you are trying to achieve the modern quiff/pomp look, give American Crew Forming Cream a shot. You won’t regret it.

Just a random do ya. This stuff is great. I’ve used it for a couple years now and after trying several other styling products this one is the best. A small amount will give you good hold. Want something a little lighter? Use a little less and mix in hand with some water. Stronger hold what you’re looking for? Use a little more. Every versatile stuff. No greasy pomade feeling and medium shine. Worth the price since one jar will easily last you months.
