ANOTHER UPDATE 10/23/22
I wanted to leave one more update to say that since leaving my update on 4/8/22, I’ve been to Germany, and this hair tool worked great over there. I’ve also continued to use it at home daily, and it’s been perfect.
UPDATE 4/8/22 —
After leaving the following review, I was contacted by AmoVee and subsequently sent a new, upgraded product. First, I want to commend them on excellent customer support!! For that reason alone, it would be worth potential customers who are contemplating this tool to go ahead and purchase it. If something goes wrong, they’ll take care of you. Second, the upgraded tool is great. It’s larger and heavier than the version I had previously, which is fine. I would call this one a “standard” size, whereas I might have called the previous one a “travel” size, but either size is workable. Additionally, this new one has an upgraded heating element which I expect to work better the next time I’m in Europe. The element in the previous version was internally regulated, meaning that I couldn’t select a heat temperature or switch from high to low. In the States, I use high heat, but in Europe I generally use a lower heat setting because with their 220-240v, tools can get extremely hot if they aren’t manufactured exclusively for that voltage. The new version of this tool has a temperature control setting, so while I’ll use it at 430 degrees at home, I’ll be able to start at 210 degrees in the E.U. and increase it if necessary. I also want to mention that my previous review stated that the metal plate on the curling iron part had fallen off the first time I had purchased the product; however, this upgraded version does seem to be more heavy-duty, and I’m not anticipating that that will be a problem with this one. Thank you to AmoVee for improving products based on customer reviews and for providing unparalleled customer service when something goes wrong!
At first I would have given this hair tool 5 stars. Initially, I loved it. But right after the return window closed, the metal plate for the curling iron part fell off, just as other reviewers said. But I liked it so much that I decided to try again. Plus, it’s dual voltage, and I had an upcoming trip to Italy, so I re-ordered. I was happy again… until 3 days into my Italy trip when it suddenly quit working. I plugged it in, and nothing… no indicator light, no heat, just nothing. And still, back in the states, there’s nothing. And of course, the return window closed 2 months ago. So I wasted a lot of money on a product that should’ve lasted more than a couple of months.

I purchased this for a trip to Ireland as it is dual voltage – a must for trips to Europe. There is one setting (no temp control) and it gets nice and hot. I liked having one product for curling and straightening, it was easy to switch back and forth. It took me a few passes to figure out the correct amount of hair to pull out into sections for curling and straightening but that is normal for any new hair tool! It is a smaller tool in length. Overall would recommend for anyone who is looking for a travel hair tool, especially to Europe.

Bought this for a trip to the UK without high expectations.. it was great! Easy to use (especially on my collarbone length hair), heats up fast, compact size and dual voltage make this the perfect travel accessory!! Also love that is eliminates needing 2 hair tools.

I am so glad I bought this little device. I have been to Europe a few times, but I have never had success being able to style my hair how I would want to while there. I blew out my flat iron the last time I was in the UK, and had to wear my hair in its natural state for the rest of the trip. This time, I didn’t want to take any chances and did a lot of research before deciding to purchase this hot tool. And I am so happy that I did! It works marvelously here in the US, and worked just as wonderfully during my week in France and my week in Italy. Heats up well, maintains a great temperature, and provides curls that stay put better than my curling wand I have been using prior to buying this. Once I got home I found myself picking this up and still using it, because it curls so well! I love the travel case! This is going to be such a handy tool to use for both domestic and international travel–as well as here at home, too! I was worried it would be too small–but it really was just fine. I loved that the dual voltage feature just works automatically. You plug it in (of course, needing the appropriate adaptor for the country you are in, if applicable) and turn it on, and that is it. The iron will automatically use the correct voltage. I knocked off a star only because the straightening feature isn’t great…It works for straightening a few pieces here and there, but if trying to style all my hair straight, this didn’t work for me. My hair got caught in the space between the plates and the plastic part of the iron (several of my hairs are still stuck to it, to prove it) and for whatever reason it just didn’t make my hair look as smooth as I am used to seeing with my other flat iron. But on my trip, I decided that I would stick to wearing my hair curled, and just used the flat iron feature for the pieces around my face, and that worked great. The other reason I knocked off the star is because this iron has an extra plastic piece that is used to rest the iron on when you put it down (so that the hot part isn’t touching the table directly). While styling my hair, this piece gets caught in my curls all the time–which drives me crazy and makes the curl look messy. My other curling irons have a metal RETRACTABLE piece that you can pop out when you need it, or pop back in so it is flush with the rest of the iron when styling. This would be much better! Overall, though, it is a fabulous item and the best thing I purchased in preparation for my trip abroad!
