My hair is a frizzy wave and I recently started crunching it for a wavy look. I used this while wet and scrunched my hair while drying. Combed with a wide tooth comb. I got the look I wanted. Hair was not crunchy and did not frizz. THE BEST PART: the next day my hair was a bit messy so I sprayed it with water, wide tooth combed it and scrunched a bit. Didn’t even add more product. It was better than day one. A win for me.

I purchased the defining gel to replace the Illuminating Gelade that Aquage has discontinued. The defining gel is much thinner and does not lend itself to molded hairstyles. It has a bit of shine, but not nearly as much as the Illuminating Gelade.

Aquage has been my tried and true curly hair gel for over a decade. It’s not cheap, but after trying less expensive products, I haven’t found a better gel. Everyone’s curls are different and Aquage has worked very well for me, even as my curl type has changed over the years. Pros: Not crunchy, great curl definition, a nice smell and holds up well all day. Cons: on the pricey side, no longer available in the larger pump container.
