8 reviews for Avlon Texture Release Kit System

I see that a lot of reviews on this product are negative. Let me tell you, if you dont want to loose your curl pattern, & looking to reduce frizz/calm your curl pattern down this is the perfect treatment for that. You MUST follow directions and apply heat carefully. The less curly or coarse you hair is, the less heat & passes you should use. I have 3C/4A type hair and made sure not to go above 250 when straightening and I blowdried on medium heat. I only did 3 passes of the flat iron at 250 MAX. My hair straightened out beautifully and had lots of body. (Also I am a professional hairstylist) so now my hair is more on the 3C side. If you are skeptical about using, go to a stylist that knows what they are doing with natural hair.

I have to say this…..I absolutely love my natural hair. I love my African blood and they hair it gave me. My hair is 4c and very, very bulky. As it has grown, it became a chore to manage….I have to cowash it just to get it into a ponytail. It is in the middle of my back and detangling takes a lot of time. Other than fairy knots, my hair is healthy. I cut/ trim my hair three times a year to keep the ends healthy. When I try to do a silk press, the results last about 48 hours and then I’m back to a ponytail. I wanted to do something to give me a little more styling versatility and to make my hair a little easier to manage. I follow a stylist who specializes in natural hair…..Jennifer Cynthia out of London(I think)…and she made a video detailing this process (YouTube). She is an amazing stylist so I decided to take her advice. (She specializes in 4c hair so I didn’t need to be convinced too much.). I read up on the science behind this process. It isn’t permanent, which I LOVE. It doesn’t raise the pH of the hair like chemical relaxers. It doesn’t break the bonds of the hair strands…..it is similar to keratin treatments, but without the carcinogen formaldehyde. This procedure uses amino acids and glycolic acid and heat to help loosen the coils texture and and make the hair more amendable to conditioning treatments. I won’t go through the entire process, but I will say that I didn’t go as hot as the instructions recommended. 400 and three to five passes was all I did. I did it myself……..I am not a stylist but I do follow instructions very well. I wasn’t worried about hair breakage because my hair is very healthy. I did a pre shampoo bond treatment before I started. My hair is SILKY and moisturized. I can’t describe it any other way. It is SLICK without adding excessive styling agents. The hardest part of the process is the flat ironing in small sections. My hair is fine and thick….so it took a long time to finish. This is supposed to last 8 to 12 weeks…..I plan to take a look at it again in November and see if I need to redo the process. One of the women who gave a testimonial said that she got the treatment three times a year. She can wear an Afro, straight, braids…..all without losing her natural curl pattern. I am looking forward to it.

Update: This product is AMAZING!!!! I reapplied the product in December….the amount of length that my hair retained is insane! I wash, deep condition and use a blow drying brush to straighten my hair…..if that’s what I want. If I don’t blow dry it, my hair retained its natural pattern, just a bit looser. Detangling is a dream…..yes it still gets tangled but the fairy knots are gone. My ends are much healthier and the styling versatility is a dream. My hair is thicker….due to less breakage I’m guessing. For my second treatment, I applied closer to the scalp and less on the ends since my hair was still relatively soft from the first treatment. About 12 weeks between first and second and my hair feels great. My ponytail is heavy….if you understand what I mean. I use bond repair shampoo and conditioner as well as pre shampoo treatments and bonding oil…….just as a precaution. I’m not sure if that makes a difference but I know my hair doesn’t need a lot of product anymore and it blow dried without hair breaking off. This is the real alternative to relaxing that I was looking for. Your what will not stay straight once you get it wet….that needs to be clarified….but it does hold a silk press or a blow out(what I do) without instantly getting frizzy. 10 Stars!!!

After months of contemplating if I should try a texture release, I decided to just go for it after seeing a British girl on YouTube (Keratin&curls) use the Avalon texture release to make her tightly coiled hair more manageable.

At first, I was so hesitant because I felt like I would no longer be considered “natural” but at that point, it was merely about practicality. My hair shrinks up so bad that I started to hate it because of how hard it was to detangle and it was leading to so much breakage. I’m happy to have found this product, I will be using this 3 times a year.

Please read the instructions carefully and if you’re doing it at home, make sure to not make any plans that day because it will take up the entire day.

First time leaving a review! I gave this product a 4 star only because the packaging came damaged and this product leaves a little bit of a smell when washing/rinsing hair. BUT that aside, 5 stars for this product!!

TLDR: I have tried countless products to help tame my frizz and manage my hair in general and nothing has ever done that for me like this has. I have 3 different textures in my hair ranging from 3b to 4a, and have always had a hard time styling it properly and it would get insanely tangled. Blow drying and straightening would take me anywhere between 4 and 6 hours due to how difficult it is to detangle.

After using this product, my hair has become increasingly more manageable! Detangling was a breeze, and it only took me 2.5 hours to blow dry and straighten! My hair is a lot softer now and absorbs products (leave ins/oils) a lot better, in general is much easier to manage, AND I don’t get as much shrinkage as before. I actually feel confident now wearing my hair down and not in a bun. I wish I had a decent before picture, but quite frankly I wasn’t expecting this product to give me the results I did!
The attached picture is my hair after a braid out. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

The instructions on the packaging was very detailed and step by step. It made my first time silk pressing my hair so easy. I highly recommend

I paid $87 and received a used product.
    Obviously returned it.

I found the Avlon Texture Release Kit System to be quite complicated with its many steps. Unfortunately, it didn’t work well for my 4C hair. I was hoping for smoother results, but it just didn’t meet my expectations. It may work better for other hair types, but it wasn’t the right fit for me. Also the price is elevated.

As per another reviewer mentioned, this like any other pro product should really be applied by a professional. With this System the straighter you want the hair to be, you you more passes with the Flat iron. If you’d like to leave some texture in the hair, fewer passes. I am a Professional and I had a couple of clients that didn’t care for it because they wanted to leave some of their texture in the hair. But the next time I used it she loved it because we only did a few passes. But it is not permanent, although the more you use it do not be surprised if the hair becomes more straighter in some areas. Which is when you should see your stylist.
