Both products work very well, are easy to use and apply, and smell really nice. They gave my most worn wig a bit of extra life, and I’m hopeful it will last another 6 months before I retire it. I aim to get a year out of the wigs I wear. I bought this mainly because my most-worn wigs had gotten a little dry, and I only had regular conditioner, which tends to dry human hair wigs further since the pH of cut hair is different from living hair.
The ingredients list might look a bit scary if you’re conscientious about that kind of thing, but it’s not too bad. Some ingredients are a bit questionable and could be removed without compromising the product, but everything there is expected and makes sense.
I’m leaving a good review among many others, but I wanted to share my research into the ingredients so you can make an informed choice:
Conditioner:
– Water, Glycerine, and Propylene Glycol: Conditioning base; very safe.
– Cetrimonium Chloride: De-frizz and detangle; mostly safe.
– Amodimethicone: De-frizzing agent for damaged hair; considered safe.
– Camellia Japonica Seed Oil: Main conditioning agent; minimal risk of allergic reaction; considered safe.
– Dimethicone Copolyol: Creates shine, dissolves in water, doesn’t leave buildup; considered safe.
– Perfume: Not listed, high potential for allergic reactions; caution advised.
– PEG-400: Softening agent; considered safe in low concentration.
– Imidazolidinyl Urea: Antimicrobial agent; keeps product from going bad; considered safe.
– Citric Acid: Controls/lowers pH; safe by any standards.
– CI 15510: Orange dye; low concentration but unnecessary and an irritant; the manufacturer could remove it.
Shampoo:
– Cocamidopropyl Betaine: Primary detergent and surfactant; potential skin irritant and allergen.
– Cetrimonium Chloride: Anti-frizz and detangling; considered safe.
– Glycerin: Conditioning; very safe.
– Dimethicone Copolyol: Creates shine, dissolves in water, doesn’t leave buildup; considered safe.
– Linoleamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate: Conditioning agent and surfactant; mild, often used in baby shampoo; considered safe.
– Camellia Japonica Seed Oil: Common conditioning oil; minimal risk; considered safe.
– Polyquaternium-10: Conditioning agent for dry, damaged hair; considered safe in sub 2% concentrations.
– Perfume: Not listed, high potential for allergic reactions; caution advised.
– PEG-400: Softening agent; considered safe.
– Methylparaben: Preservative; suspect for cancer risk and irritation, but okay for wigs.
– Disodium EDTA: Removes buildup, helps hair take on more moisture; considered safe in low concentrations but can irritate sensitive skin.
– CI 15510: Orange dye; same concerns as for the conditioner.
Overall, these products contain ingredients I wouldn’t use on my own hair, but they work very well for a wig.
