I have thick, coarse hair and sensitive skin. I’m prone to both nicks/cuts and razor burn, which is why I normally stay away from manual blades. I’d been using a Norelco electronic body groomer razor. It couldn’t easily reach parts of my back, and it painfully pulled on the hairs. The result was a lot of red, sore skin and about half the time I realized I missed some hair.
After a particularly uncomfortable back shave with my Norelco, I reluctantly ordered the baKblade 1.0, partly because the price was down to $25. The reviews citing that guys cut up their back or it didn’t catch the hairs did make me skeptical going in. Still I figured for $25, I was willing to give it a try.
What a great decision! The baKblade gently shaves off hairs with no pain. I also find that I don’t have to go over the same area as many times as compared to my electric shaver. Not only that, but baKblade is a closer, smoother shave. There is ZERO discomfort shaving (I use it dry before taking a hot shower and don’t feel any irritation in the shower). The length of the handle makes it possible to self-shave all areas of my back, but it’s mostly straight so some areas are still a bit tricky to maneuver it to get to the hair. Also, I shave the back of my neck more frequently with my electric face razor and the baKblade didn’t catch any hairs. It might work better if I let the hair grow out more.
For the people cutting themselves, I have to think that they are applying A LOT of pressure. I don’t press it into my back at all. Instead, I very gently glide it along my back against the grain of how the hair grows. It doesn’t feel like there’s a razor on my back, but it does the job so that’s a good thing. I’ve also only tried it after about 3-4 weeks of growth. If you’re trying to use this every couple days to maintain a completely hairless, smooth to the touch back, then maybe that would cause more irritation too as it seems to do good when the hair is a bit longer.
Overall, this is by far the best self-use back shaving solution I’ve tried.

Its important to note that I am hairy. Not just a patch of hair near my shoulder blades or at the base of my back. I am hairy, all over my back from shoulder to shoulder from neck to buttocks… I have tried almost every product on the market to get rid of my back hair including getting my back waxed on a semi-regular basis. The back waxing gave me a nice smooth back but left me with “backne” and grew back to quick to justify the time and money spent on the service. I’ve tried using a regular razor both with and without the Razorba. I’ve even attached an electric trimmer to the Razorba with rubber bands and duct tape to try to speed up the hair removal process. All of these techniques have worked but have come at some type of cost like expense, time or discomfort.
I was doing my regular research and ran across the backSPA. It looked weird. But it also looked like it may work (remember the duct tape and Razorba, i will obviously try anything). So i hit the buy now button and bought it through Amazon. I do have one ding and that is that the backSPA is not eligible for Prime members. I love my Prime membership so sometimes when I don’t see a product qualifies it will give me pause. I decided to buy anyway and I am forever glad i did. The seller, Chris, reached out to me letting me know that an updated model was about to ship and offered me the option of getting an existing unit or wait a short time for the update. I decided to wait and get the update. I did not wait long and the communication was on point.
The backSPA is EASY to use! The long handle makes it possible to reach all of my back without straining. You do have to move your back around to get some spots but no more than you move your face to compensate for the angles of your face. Its also quite light so it doesn’t get heavy as you are working on banishing the hair. My first time using it took only about 4 minutes to remove all of my hair which was in full growth pattern. In fact, it worked so well that I thought it wasn’t even working at one point. It can’t be that easy. Well, it IS that EASY. You simply drag it along your dry skin and the hair shaves off. The design even catches some of the hair if you are shaving from above which helps to minimize the mess. It feels strange but no uncomfortable. It is important to note that you do not get a freshly shaved smooth back from the backSPA. It feels more like you have used an electric razor. I prefer leaving a little growth behind to avoid any ingrown hairs.

O produto recebido conforme o pedido. Mas demorou muito em se tratando de compra internacional, eu já tinha achado caro na hora da compra mas mesmo assim resolvi comprar, o pior é que o produto ficou retido na receita federal daí tive que desembolsar mais R$ 135,00 , Relembrando que o produto já é caro por causa do dólar nas alturas. Outro problema no uso é que causa muito pelo encravado quando os pelos começam a crescer novamente.

Bottom line up front: this works well. I’ve used it once, went slowly and carefully and was pleasantly surprised how clean my back was afterwards. I noticed fewer scratches with this than I get with the electric Mangroomer.
I own the Mangroomer electric shaver but I have noticed that it was just not cutting it anymore. I’ve since learned that the Mangroomer needed a new (and sharp) replacement head. In the meantime I searched around and came across this Bakblade 1.0. For thirty odd dollars I thought this was worth a shot. I mean, to get one waxing job is about $70, not to mention the pain involved in that experience. I’m glad I did. Now I have two weapons to attack the back.
I noticed one review with a picture showing a nasty cut. The thing is though is that I injured my back in the exact same spot using the Mangroomer. I did cut myself but did create a nasty shaver burn that hurt for a while. When your arms are up over your head that spot forms a ridge and if you pull to hard you will hurt yourself. But the review was very helpful because it reminded me to be careful with this Bakblade.
Bottom line at the bottom: just get it.
