I bought 8 hand soap bottles and lots of refills three months ago after receiving a sample. Love the scent and the nice glass jars. I was all-in on reducing waste, and I thought these guys were selling a quality produce.

Unfortunately, the pump has stopped working on 3 of the 8 after only 3 months. A couple of the other pumps are having problems and will probably stop working soon (they don’t come back up after dispensing soap). I tried cleaning the pumps with hot water, disassembling them and rinsing them, and they don’t work anymore.

I contacted Customer Service at the Blueland website. (There was no way to contact them at amazon because the return window had closed, I guess?) I told them about the bad pumps and included a screenshot of my receipt for spending +$200 on Blueland products.

I received a prompt email reply from Alexa (not kidding) telling me that the soap would be just fine even if the pump didn’t work. What?? She told me to contact amazon about getting replacements. FAIL.

Maybe their customer service USED TO BE GREAT, but it’s not anymore.

    Buyer beware!

I bought 4 and two of the pumps stopped working within 2 weeks. I love the smell of the soap and the volume but this is very frustrating. And I did not overfill it.

The glass bottle is simple and elegant. The soap scents are lovely! I plan to replace all my plastic pump bottles in each bathroom and the kitchen with this beautiful, sustainable solution!

    Lather (3 stars):

All the other soaps we’ve used have a longer lasting lather. The foam soap coming out of my jar doesn’t last as long on my hands for scrubbing, even when compared to other foam soaps. This leaves me with a feeling of “no soap” even though I’m not satisfied my hands are clean enough.

I don’t think I use more or less soap than normal, or that I scrub more than normal, but I suppose I would think that regardless. Even with two full pumps, it’s not quite enough. Without getting more soap, I don’t think I could make it through “Happy Birthday Twice” as has become the recommendation. In any case, the lather quality has left me a bit disappointed. I think I’m going to try to mix the next bottle up at a slightly higher concentration…but without markings of any kind on the bottle it’s hard to say what I might want to do.

I believe that the ultimate consequence of this is that what appears to be a normal sized bottle of soap is actually less soap than it seems. So you’ll use it faster. And buy more. I’m not a conspiracy kinda person, I doubt this is what the folks that developed this were actually calculating. Unless…

    Scent (5 stars):

The scent is fine. It doesn’t linger on my hands too much, which is about the only thing I care about.

I was expecting the scent to be a variety pack on my first purchase of the kit but it’s all the same. The amazon listing says that’s the case, so I don’t know where I got that idea.

    Pump and Bottle (2 stars):

Part of the reason I bought this is that I’m frustrated by the quality of the soap dispensers out there. Even the vanity style reusable dispensers available are cheap, crappy plastic. The bottle here is glass, which gives me some pause, but it’s thick and seems like it’d hold itself together even after slipping off the sink a time or two. I was worried that, without rubber feet, it would be very slippery, but it doesn’t seem to be a problem. The glass base itself seems to have a fair amount of friction. We’ll see how it holds up to soap scum buildup. And kids clumsily knocking it off of the counter onto the tile floor.

The pump also seems well made, but for some reason it has an embossing on the top of the pump with the BLUELAND typeface in it. You probably won’t notice it until it gets caked with dirt and develops an “organic drop-shadow”. I think if it were me, I’d prefer not to have my brand identified by the impossible to clean remnants of dirty hands.

    Edit:

Revising my review down a star for the quality of the pump just not lasting. We’re part way through our third tablet and the pump no longer “springs” up when you try to use it. It makes the pump frustrating to use and requires two hands now.

The fact that the bottle is not plastic is huge, and then natural ingredients in the soap is a double win!

I originally gave this product only one star because the pump delivered only a watery squirt. Blueland contacted me and replaced the pump. They also suggested that I start by giving the new pump several pumps to get it to produce foam which worked for a while.

Bottom line, the pump still needs a bit of work but I like the soap and will buy it again

    like the foam

My girlfriend ordered this as an attempt to cut down on waste, which I’m all for. I’ve never really liked the foaming soap, but I agree with the sentiment, so I went with it. We’ve had it nearly a year and it has been fairly reliable and easy to maintain.

However, the real reason I’m giving it 5 stars is because of the customer service. After 11 months (their warranty is 100 days) the pump finally gave out. It became really difficult to press resulting in very watery foam being dispensed. I reached out to their customer service team and not only did they get back to me quickly, but sent along a replacement pump for free! Would recommend.

The bottle is high quality and I love the different soap scents! It is easy to use, lasts a while, and doesn’t leave any weird residue on my hands.
