I am really happy with this brush. I have very fine long hair and I’ve been using Natural Bristle Brushes since I was a teen. I’m now a senior citizen and because I’m post-menopausal my hair is both drier and more fragile than it used to be. I needed a new brush anyway, this one looked different than any I’ve had before because it has the kind of “padded” backing under the bristles I normally associate with plastic”Vent brushes”. It’s perfect! The shape, the texture of the bristles, and the padding under it feels like it does a better job of allowing the bristles to penetrate to the scalp, not just the surface hair. Although it’s not intended for actual de-tangling, nevertheless it does OK unless I have really bad dread knots underneath in the back where I slept on it. I have another type of brush for those anyway. But I feel like it’s good for my hair and scalp, gives it shine and volume and distributes what oil I have left in it. Also cleans out blanket lint, etc., without pulling out or breaking my hair too. I also like the company; it came nicely packaged with a comb in a canvas drawstring pouch. I would deal with them again. I appreciated the care instructions and thank you card they included. I’m picky about brushes; more so since age has rendered my hair more breakable and I lose more brushing it than I used to. This is the best new brush I’ve had in years and in a month or so of using it’s holding up well and I’m as satisfied as I was the 1st time I used it.

I have a strong love-hate relationship with my hair. On days where it feels smooth, thick, and oil-free, all is wonderful. However, on days where it feels limp, thin, and dry, it’s hard to feel my best.

Last fall, my hair started falling out, for a number of reasons, though mostly due to stress. I began researching ways how to grow thicker, healthier, and shinier hair naturally, and one of the suggestions I came across repeatedly in my research was the boar bristle brush. I’d been using plastic hair brushes my whole life, and was hesitant about buying another brush; would it really make a difference?

I finally ordered the Dovalia bristle hair brush and comb (they came together with my order), and was amazed by the results. The bristles on the bristle boar hair brush have a similar texture to that of a broom, which was a surprise, though after one brush, my hair instantly felt thicker, smoother, and more voluminous! This was much unlike my plastic brush, which would usually leave my hair feeling either flat or staticky. Apparently the brush helps spread oils evenly throughout the hair, making it shinier and healthier, while the texture of the bristles bring volume to the hair.

The comb was also a nice addition, and feels different from plastic combs, in that it feels more gentle. The comb seems to work best on wet hair (detangling it gently) while the brush works wonders on dry hair.

Customer service was excellent; shipping was swift, and Dovalia sent personal messages to ensure customer satisfaction.

Overall, I highly recommend this product for anyone who is looking to give their hair some extra life and shine! While the price made me hesitant at first, the product proved to be well more than worth the purchase.

I am trying to grow my hair out really long, and one bit of advice I keep hearing is to use a boar bristle brush to massage your scalp and distribute your hair’s oils. I’ve tried a couple of boar brushes in the past, and I hated both of them. I always chalked it up to user error, until I gave this brush a try. I’ll try to explain why this brush works so well.
    1. The bristles are a little longer than other brushes I’ve used. They are also a little more flexible, and the clusters of bristles are a bit more spaced out in comparison to other brushes. So when I used those brushes, I was met with a dense, stiff, scratchy, impenetrable wall of bristles that never really brush past the outer canopy of hair. With this brush, I feel like it gets through to my scalp, bending with my head shape and the texture of my hair rather than shredding through it.
    2. Other brushes I have used have absolutely stunk of rubber, presumably the base of the brush, and they shed like crazy. This one has very little no no rubber smell. There were a few shed bristles when I first opened the brush, but I’ve had it for a month and have washed it several times and it hasn’t shed any more.
    3. The bristles seem to be high quality. With other brushes, the bristles kind of just move around the hair oils and leave a lot of static, so my hair looked like a greasy mess. With this brush, the bristles seem to absorb a little bit of the oil while also distributing it, so my hair looks shiny, not greasy. It is also not nearly as staticky as other brushes. I’m not sure if that’s because of the bristles or the rubber base.
All in all, I highly recommend it. The wood handle is a solid construction and it feels natural, not clunky, in your hands. I liked that the company sent a small wood comb with it. I don’t use combs very often, but you can tell it is equally as sturdy and well made as the brush.

This brush come in great condition. I loved the wooden comb and the bag that come with it.
I recently noticed that my hair was thinning out a bit because of a supplement I was taking. So I stopped taking it and started working towards repairing the damage by paying more attention to how I care for my hair. Part of that was buying a new hair brush that would help support hair growth. When trying to pick between the brush suited for thin to normal hair vs normal to thick hair, I decided to pick the brush for thin hair. Which was my mistake. I really should have gone with the normal to thick hair brush.
Although, I love using this brush and how shiny and smooth it makes my hair look, I feel like it’s only getting to the surface hairs and not the hairs closer to my scalp.
The reason the 4 star and not the 5 is because I’m not sure I’m getting the full effect of this brush. For others considering on buying this brush, make sure you buy the right brush for your hair type. Overall, I’m happy with the quality of this brush.
