Felt I should leave a review after nearly a years use of this shaver. Had bought this shaver last September to replace a Philips that had became annoyingly slow which made things a bit difficult when trying to get ready for work and be out the door a certain time.

When the shaver was new it provided a very fast and close shave way better than the Philips that I have sitting in the closet now, or the older Braun’s that I had in high school and college. This shaver is easy to clean and maintain, replacing the head very simple. However as I used the shaver more and more started to notice little things. The shave was not as close as it was, started seeing hairs getting missed and if it was thicker or long would have to go over multiple times to get them. Replacing the head would take care of this problem but would start right back up a few months later after some use.

When I was looking to replace the Phillips had found the Braun to be the most affordable at the time. 40 bucks is not that much in the grand scheme of thing but when you add the replacement head that was around 20 bucks at the time the cost starts to add up. Especially if you continue to use the shaver and have to replace the head every 4 to 5 months when the shave is not as good. That said I am not sure about long term use of this shaver from a battery life standpoint. I use this shaver 2 maybe 3 times a week and this morning my Braun had died. Worked fine yesterday and the days before but today not so much. This was charged on Monday thought maybe because its older that the charge did not last as long.
Tried to charge the unit up and would not charge so in the garbage it goes. Hope this is a one off situation but thought I would add that in especially if you’re thinking about getting 2 units at the same time.

I haven’t used an electric razor for decades. I am very impressed and love some of the technology. First of all it’s waterproof so it’s easy to clean just by running it under water. The shave is good. It’s sometimes lacking on my neck but every few days I dry shave with a blade right after I do the electric if it doesn’t seem shaved close enough. That works just fine. I do wish it told you how many minutes left on a charge. I haven’t pushed it to where it has no charge but I do 7 shaves in a week and it still has a charge. All in all, a great razor for an inexpensive price.

I’ve had my razor for almost a year now and have almost nothing but positive things to say about it. The biggest thing that impresses me about it is how long it holds a charge. I put the razor on charge about once a week, but I think I could probably get away with charging it less than half that often. Biggest gripe about the razor is that it does a horrible job of getting rid of those fine little white hairs that aren’t as coarse as regular beard/moustache hairs. After shaving, I’ll often find one lone long white hair somewhere on my face or neck or sometimes a group of them. It’s easy enough to take the “shearing” blade to them later, but I find it embarrassing until I can get home. The shearing blade attachment is great for trimming up sideburns and eyebrows. I even use it for “manscaping” down south as well. LOL. Very good razor for the price. Well done, Braun!

This is a great product for the price. Nice smooth shave and keeps a long charge. Great fit for shave kit to take on trips.I would recommend and buy again. My last razor was also Braun and I used it for many years until they stopped selling replacement blades for it. I have been using this shaver for several months now and have been really happy with this product.

The Braun Series 3 shaver is a must-have for any man seeking a precise and efficient grooming routine. Its advanced technology effortlessly glides over the skin, delivering a close shave without irritation. As a waterproof wonder, it’s perfect for a quick trim in the shower. While it’s an investment, the long-lasting battery, comfortable grip, and Braun’s trusted quality make it worth every penny.

  10. One for All

I have been using the Braun Series 9 “fancy” electric razor for probably a decade. I have used it so much that the power button finally fell out, and while I can still activate the power it looks terrible. And I had reached the end of normal life for the shaver head, so I went out to Amazon to see what is out there. Much to my shock, a new replacemet shaver head costs MORE than an entire new Series 3 shaver AND head. I figured it was time to get a new shaver, and for the incredibly low price I felt I couldn’t go wrong.

Shown are photos of the two units head-to-head. If you research the Series 9, you will see that it costs 5 times what the Series 3 does. Is it worth it? Well … from a physical size standpoint, the Series 9 looks bigger, but if you look at the actual surface contact area on the head of the shavers, the Series 9 and Series 3 are IDENTICAL. Literally they are the exact same width.

But what about performance? Well, first let me say the Series 3 works great, especially for the money. There is no question that per dollar the Series 3 gives you BY FAR the biggest bang for the buck. However, honestly the Series 9 is probably 50 percent more powerful and faster. The little motor clearly runs at a much higher RPM, it doesn’t bog down as easily, and it just is simply much faster to use. A full daily shave that takes me about 2 minutes with the Series 3 could probably be done in about 90 seconds with the Series 9. Is it worth it to pay the extra for the Series 9? Certainly not to me. BUT I do acknowledge that the Series 9 is without a doubt just a better device … it isn’t just marketing hype.

Also note that both offer a little trimmer extension on the back. Funny enough, the Series 3 is actually larger and seems to work better than the Series 9 function in that department.

The Series 9 does have the moveable head, and that does make the shaving a little bit smoother, but certainly not worth the extra money in my opinion.

In summary: the Series 9 is a Ferrari, and the Series 3 is a Camaro. The Series 3 is still FAR better than other brands and styles of shavers I have tried over the years. If I am a techie billionaire, I’m definitely getting the Series 9. Otherwise, I’m a Series 3 guy for life and don’t mind the extra 30 seconds a day it takes to shave with the less powerful unit.
