I hesitated before purchasing this trimmer because it is quite a bit more expensive than the one I used previously. Well, you get what you pay for. The one that I used previously kept breaking. I had to disassemble it twice to keep it going. It was pretty effective when it worked, but this one is better. It cuts with celerity, so you don’t have to go over the same area repeatedly. It is quiet. The battery charge lasts seemingly forever. The display keeps you informed about the state of the battery. Even the box that houses the trimmer and other parts is nicely made. I agree with the comments that the guard is hard to attach and that the cutting head is a little too wide for trimming my mustache, but these are quibbles. If you appreciate well-made products, this is the one to get.

Edit: Now that I have more experience using the trimmer, I retract the statement about the head being too wide to trim my mustache. I learned to hold the head at an angle so that only a small part of it contacts my mustache. Easy and effective. Still loving this product.

Purchased as a better solution to trimming facial hair rather than my electric shaver’s precision trimmer. Like to trim it down to a short or fine stubble then use a razor to get extra close. My current shaver and previous ones before it just pulled hair and the teeth with leave my skin with tiny red marks where they had been. Just not a fun experience as one can imagine.

Finally pulled the trigger for this and right out of the box put it to use. My beard was longer than I have ever had it, but a decent margin. Length was, I would estimate of the longest, good almost 2″. I was dreading cutting it off as I knew my razor would be useless and the memories of my skin getting all red and painful after when using my electric shaver were burned into my memory. Not to mention the time it usually takes to try and minimize the damage to my face.

The Brio, on 1.9mm setting, lowest RPM, cut the hair so effortlessly and easily I had a hard time not laughing at how easy it was. Went over it all again at 1.0mm right after, took a few minutes. Bing bang boom. Got definition into my side burns, did my upper and bottom lip just fine, no snags, made sure to pull the skin just that little bit and got nice even length across my whole face. Teeth left no marks on my skin, heck, wasn’t even pinkish there was no irritation. Will update if needed after subsequent usage but it has been a worthwhile purchase so far.

Buying tips: IT IS NOT FOR WET SHAVING/IN THE SHOWER. Is not shower rated or whatever you might call it. Needs oil but they provide a little bottle in the box and the device gives you an alert when it is needed. Obviously won’t give you baby smooth shave, will leave a nice stubble look/length you can finish off or keep.

Bottom line: If you purchase the beardscape, you won’t have to worry about buying another pair of trimmers for your beard for a long long time. While a $100 price tag may seem steep for a pair of trimmers, there are a few key details to keep in kind in what you’re getting with this product:

    1) This is a quality durable trimmer that’ll last for years, if you’ve bought cheaper trimmers before like me, you’re lucky for them to last a year or two and maintain their quality, you buy this and you’re set, don’t have to worry about replacing it.

    2) the features: you have 3 or 4 different blade speeds, a battery life that lasts way longer than you’ll ever need, it’s cordless, but If you do happen to run out of battery life, you can plug it in and it’ll work instantly, you don’t need to wait for the battery to charge.

So far in my experience with it, no pulling, tugging or pushing, it’s a very clean, precise cut, this is a $100 investment that is worth the money, Brio’s got a recommendation from me.

I’ve hade the Brio Beardscape for about six weeks now and have used it several times; enough, I think, to know what I like and don’t about this trimmer. To give a bit of context to my review I’ll say that my beard is pretty tough, doesn’t grow in straight and is salt and pepper (more salt, lately). I like to keep it somewhere between a long stubble and very short beard, with no hard, defined lines, yet graduated in a way that looks natural and balances my face (sorry if that’s TMI).

The good: as others have noted, the Beardscape has sharp blades. It gives a nice clean cut. No broken hairs or “barbs.” The motor is strong and quiet. The battery’s charge lasts a long time. The display is good except for the “burden” which I found out is always lit while the Beardscape is running. The blade adjustment feature is really nice, and is a very good idea. It’s a nice looking trimmer that feels solid in my hand. And the packaging is well done (small details like this can say a lot about a product).

The less good: I have two main issues with the. Beardscape; the width of the head and the guide comb attachments. The head on this trimmer is wide, almost half again as wide as the Norelco 7300 I’ve been using for about 6 years. It makes it difficult for me to follow both the contours of my face and the growth pattern of my beard in an even manner (unless I go shorter than I want – under 3mm – which is the reason I bought a new trimmer in the first place). The other main issue I have is that the guild comb (I use the shorter side of the smaller comb) leaves a gap in any position other than with the blade set to its closest setting; which can let hairs get caught, which pulls and hurts. The guide combs do snap into place, but not as easily as they could and because both the comb and trimmer are dark, it makes it difficult to see if the pins are seated in their slots; there is no guide on the topside of the comb to line up. It’s trial and error. I had no issue popping the head off to clean, though getting it back in is a little trickier – a little trickier.

The folks at brio were quick to answer my question about the “burden” indicator. This is a much better trimmer than my old norelco (though I like the vacuum). With practice I have learned that the angle I hold the trimmer at can compensate for some of my issues, though that goes against the instructions. Overall I like the Brio Beardscape, but I wanted to love it.

I have been using Panasonic for a couple of years which worked well until the top cage broke the trimmer is still fine. This one at first was kind a hard for me to use at first and I almost returned it. Then I changed the angle for the trim and it was a breeze. It feel great in hands and is so quiet compared to anything I have seen. The cut is smooth the plastic heads are premium quality and is worth spending on this one for a little experienced users.

Amazing beard trimmer, the only con which is minor is that it is a bit fiddly to put on the attachments but apart from that this is the best beard trimmer for beards in the market, in my opinion. You will not be disappointed. Great for longer beards and I can see it would be great for shorter beards too!
