I don’t usually make negative reviews but I wanted to make sure nobody makes the same mistake I did. This conditioner is not for black hair! Made my curls extremely dry and easily tangled. The scent also does not last on my hair. Overall found no benefits from using this conditioner on my curly hair. Only made my hair feel brittle, frizzy and dry. My other conditioners make my hair feel nourished. I will be sticking to what I know!

I remember trying Cake Beauty shampoo before it was acquired by Marc Anthony a few years ago — it was a different formula than this curl product, but I remember it having a yummy gingerbread cookie scent and decided to give it another try. Whatever it used to smell like, that fragrance is no longer. This “lemon cookie” scent has a pungent, sour note that almost reminds me of kerosene. It is the only conditioner I’ve ever had to immediately rinse off my head, followed by a double shampoo scrub to get the stench off. I almost vomited, yes it was THAT bad. I own a lot of fragrances and don’t mind unusual ones, but this is the worst I’ve ever encountered. Whatever you did, Cake, to the OG scent, take it back because this is not it.

The product is fine. Shipping is awful. It’s sent in a padded envelope with no other protection around the bottle. When I received the item, the top had come off and half of the conditioner was smeared all over the inside of the envelope. Bad, bad shipping.

I’m not sensitive with smells but this one is absolutely horrible! I ignored the reviews and I regret it. I just threw the whole bottle out after one use. I had to reshampoo and condition my hair twice to try to get rid of the smell.

My hair is dry and damaged- my curls struggle to curl without a lot of help; but after using the cake products my hair air dried curlier than it’s ever been before. The conditioner smells great and doesn’t leave my hair feeling greasy- it leaves it feeling moisturized and so soft. 10/10

I was really pretty excited when I ordered this. I have curly/wavy hair and the idea of a nice scent and a shampoo for curly hair at a reasonable price seemed too much to hope for. It was. The scent is very unpleasant – artificial and sort of like plastic. It really did nothing for my curls/frizz. I guess I am glad it didn’t cost much.
