As someone who frequently dyes their hair at home, I recently tried the Clairol Nice’n Easy Permanent Hair Dye in the shade 6R Light Auburn. Here’s a detailed review of my experience with this product.

Packaging and Instructions: The hair dye comes in a well-organized kit that includes the color cream, color activator, conditioning treatment, gloves, and detailed instructions. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, making the application process straightforward even for those new to home hair coloring.

Application: The gloves provided are of good quality and fit well, which is crucial for a mess-free application. Mixing the color cream with the activator was simple, and the resulting mixture had a smooth consistency that was easy to apply. The dye spreads evenly through the hair without dripping, and the application brush made it easy to reach the roots and evenly distribute the color.

Color Result: The 6R Light Auburn shade turned out to be a beautiful, vibrant red with natural-looking undertones. The color was true to the box, providing a rich, warm auburn that wasn’t too overpowering. My hair had a noticeable shine and looked healthy post-dye. The multi-tonal color effect added depth and dimension, giving a salon-quality finish at home.

Coverage: One of the standout features of Clairol Nice’n Easy is its excellent gray coverage. It effectively covered all my gray hairs, blending them seamlessly with the rest of my hair. The color was even from root to tip, without any patchiness.

Conditioning Treatment: The included conditioning treatment is a fantastic addition. After rinsing out the dye, the conditioner left my hair feeling incredibly soft and manageable. It has a pleasant scent and added an extra layer of shine to the hair, enhancing the overall result.

Longevity: In terms of longevity, the color has held up well over several weeks. It hasn’t faded significantly, and the vibrant auburn tone remains intact. The conditioning treatment provided also helps in maintaining the color’s vibrancy and the hair’s health over time.

Value for Money: Clairol Nice’n Easy offers excellent value for money. The quality of the dye, the richness of the color, and the comprehensive kit make it a cost-effective alternative to salon coloring. Given the professional-looking results and long-lasting color, it’s well worth the price.

Overall Impression: Clairol Nice’n Easy Permanent Hair Dye in 6R Light Auburn is a standout product for home hair coloring. Its ease of application, vibrant and true-to-box color, excellent gray coverage, and added conditioning benefits make it a top choice. Whether you are looking to cover grays, switch up your look, or maintain your current color, this dye delivers impressive results. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a rich, natural-looking auburn shade with salon-quality results at home.

First, let me explain my headline or title of this review. I’m doing my best not to use any foul language here, so Dagnabbit is as good as it’s going to get.

Anyone who has fake red hair or is a hair stylist knows, red is the fastest color to fade. Yes, I realize that Clairol while it’s been around for a long time, it’s not a salon quality hair dye and I’m not expecting salon quality out of it. I’ve used many different brands in my life and I’ve had gray roots I needed to be rid of for a long time now, so I would consider myself an expert in this situation, as a consumer of this product and other home hair dyes as well as many years of going to a salon to get my hair done.

Like most things seem to do these days, prices go up, yet the quality and/or quantity goes down and that’s the experience I have with the quality of this product. Yes, my red used to fade, but it would last longer than it does these days. I’d say the fading starts quite quickly, at about two weeks on, you can see the fade as your once beautiful red shiny hair becomes dull and a flat looking color. You can’t keep putting this dye over the old growth every 4-6 weeks when you cover your gray roots because it will damage your hair terribly, so this is an issue with the fading, because when you dye your roots, they are nice and red and shiny, but the rest of your hair is dull looking, so your roots are still obvious, but they are obvious in being redder rather than grayer than the rest of your hair.

In fact, Clairol has made me decide to go gray all the way. I am currently giving my hair a rest from the dye and although it’s in the phase that makes me look like I’m just too lazy to color my roots, I’m sick and tired of having to redo my hair so often and causing damage to it from over dyeing it due to the quick fading.

I wanted to give this review to let those of you who are still dyeing their hair to know this dye fades fast and I am no longer someone who is outside all the time and can use the excuse that the sun faded it, I’m inside most of the time these days so its a problem with the dye itself.

The boxes were pretty banged up. Not the best looking but same product and quality. Packaging needs to be redone

Beautiful colour, it’s slightly darker than what I expected but I still love it! I’d been searching for an auburn dye similar to my natural colour as it’s impossible to find here in Japan!
This dye has also made my hair feel really soft again (it was previously bleached a month or so ago)
    I would definitely recommend it!

I have cool-toned, light skin and the lightest auburn hair color has a beautiful tint of red that matches perfectly!

Prior to coloring, I had my natural hair color (light brown/dark blonde) with a few bleach-blonde highlights and bleach-blonde tips. I separated the highlights that I wanted to keep and wrapped them in aluminum foil to keep hair dye from getting to them. When I dyed my hair, I stopped before dying the last few inches of my hair, leaving the blonde tips.
I love the result and have received many compliments! My hair now has an ombre/bayalage look! I had also toned the blonde in my hair with a pearl-blonde and it matches beautifully with this red. This red is not “orangey” or brassy, which works perfectly for cool hair tones. I also used a purple conditioner to keep my blondes from being brassy and the purple shampoo doesn’t ruin the res color. If anything, it keeps the red from looking brassy.

The red turned out less vibrant on me than on the box, but I think it will be brighter with the next application when I decide to “freshen up” to color. Either way, it’s a beautiful color!

I do recommend doing a hair strand test prior to coloring to check what color this will dye your hair (everyone’s hair reacts differently). The hair strand test is also a way to check if your hair will become damaged by this dye.

My wife got this product, her review: Not only did the hair dye wash out by 80, it made half of my hair fall from the root!!! It’s been 3 weeks since use and still have steady abnormal hair fall that’s never happened before in my entire life.

No change since then in diet lifestyle and not on medication, used the product exactly as instructed in the box including treatment time.

I cannot believe the damage it has done to my scalp, do NOT BUY!

El color es hermoso pero me duró a lo mucho 1 semana y media…

This 5r medium auburn is the first red box dye that didn’t turn my hair pink or purple. I’m graying and wanted a color that was a natural red like my natural hair from my youth. This is it! I’m very happy with the color and the coverage of white gray hairs mixed in with my hair growth currently. It leans on the orange side which is what I wanted as my natural hair color does as well. No pink or purple to be found in the results!
