I picked this up to mix my first color at home. I’ve been using Madison Reed for years, but the price of the Wella Color Charm dye was so affordable, I figured that I’d try it! I used the demi-permanent blue black for all over color on my long brown hair (and some grays). It was very easy to mix per directions. I also purchased mixing bottles with measuring lines and a cheap dye kit. The gray coverage was excellent and the blue black is stunning! My grays are still covered after a month, but I’m not sure how much longer it will last with the demi color. I will probably use permanent color next.

I use this with the Wella Colorcharm lightener for my roots (I’m normally a level 5 brunette) and after I have used a 20 volume for my lengths (my strands are not virgin colour so I need more of a kick). 10 volume is also a perfect strength for hair dye that is darker than your initial colour or going 1-2 shades lighter.
I actually prefer this method over Box Dye, so you have control and awareness of the strength of the products (Box dye is all over the place with strengths and it’s rarely labelled = bigger chance of frying your hair). I’ve been using this brand for several years, previously purchasing from a Sally Beauty, and haven’t had a bad experience; just make sure you are careful and do your research beforehand.

I love that both bottles arrived sealed, there was a big piece of white tape over it so the lids couldn’t become loose or pop off and spill during shipment. Perfect! I really appreciate it that they came sealed. I forgot to take a picture of it though.
I do wonder about something tho, after using this lvl 10 developer and the wella charm demipermant hair dye 1N, my hair felt very dry and almost brittle-like. I’m not sure if it is due to my own fault/ user error, I’ve only used it once and will be doing it again soon. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again. I do have very fine curly hair, so that could be part of it. Next time I will use more conditioner and hair oil to moisturize a few days before I dye it again. But it is very simple and easy to use.
