so glad I purchased this one, so many options out there, but I didn’t want to spend a lot, so I choose this based off the reviews, so glad I did. it works great, is super fast compared to all other driers ive had, which is many, and I love the ion, I wont buy one without it, and can tell a difference with ion! if you hold in the blue button it will give you cold air, which is great, you don’t have to change the switch to cool air, just hole in the blue button on any setting! GREAT! it gets hot, but not so hot that it burns your neck (or my daughters neck, which is always a problem with the girls, she used to hate the hair dryer cus it was so hot it burned her neck ect), however it is hot enough to dry hair very quickly, which is a great deal for her, since that was her other problem with them. and its great for me too, since a lot of time I barely have time to even halfway dry my hair, now I can fully dry it in that amount of time! it is easy to hold/handle, and has all the options that an expensive dryer would, with the add ons (2 different ones!), they clip on and off easy also! it is sturdy, I have had it for a couple months, and I am very rough with them, leave them in the bathroom, laying out, or tucked beside the makeup table, laying in floor, or just through under the cabnit,, and I have had no issues at all, it doesn’t have a scratch on it! amazing! i would recommend this to everybody, my sis already got the same one, after using mine,since she loved it, and still does after a month, and now my mom has the same one as well, and we all bought them on here, to be sure it was the exact same one, since in the stores it gets kinda confussing since so many are similar but not the exact same! so, yes, recommended, love it, love it , love it!

My hairstylist recommended I buy an ionizer hairdryer because it does not dry out hair as much as others. I invested a couple hours researching on line and reviewing the products here at Amazon. In the end, I selected the Conair Ion Shine because it was 1875 watts, was an ionizer, was priced affordably, and the design seemed good.
Now that I have received the item and have had some time to use it, here are my ratings:
STORABILITY: 2.5 stars There is a hanging loop, but the cord is heavy and awkward. The unit is heavy enough that whatever hook one would hang it from would have to be substantially mounted so it would not pull out of the wall. (Wall mounting is not an option for me). Also, after only two uses, the cord has already begun to twist, which is a negative.
VALUE: 4.5 stars I knew the Amazon price was reasonable, even lower than my local discount stores. After I purchased this item, I found the same model at BIG LOTS for a dollar more and in different colors.
PERFORMANCE: 5 stars Dries hair quickly without using high heat temps. Unit comes with a few attachments. The diffuser is really large and awkward to store. The unit has a hinged filter that opens easily for cleaning. The removable filter is the standard small piece of material that I have seen in other high-tech fan devices, including the high-end SmartTechnologies Smart Board in my classroom. I’m figuring the filter material is pretty standard. In my previous hair dryer, the fan did not have a removable filter for cleaning; eventually the old fan clogged so horribly (despite my attempts to brush it out)that it slowed down and eventually killed the unit.
Other note: If a younger child will be using the unit, she may find the unit feels heavy or hard to hold after a while. I suggest looking for one of the smaller, portable units for tweens.

I WOULD HAVE GIVEN 5 STAR IF AMAZON WOULD HAVE PROVIDED ME STEP DOWN CONVERTER OF 1875 WATT. WHICH IS VERY TOUGH TO BUY FROM OUTSIDE ELECTRONIC SHOP AS MAXIMUM AVAILABLE WATTAGE OUTSIDE ARE 1500. I HAVE GIVEN ORDER TO MANUFACTURE 2000 WATT STEP DOWN CONVERTER WHICH IS WORTH 5500 RUPEES ( COSTLIER THAN HAIR DRYER ).

I went ahead and bought TWO of these through Amazon, because the model description had almost every feature I was looking for, and was at a great sale price (thanks Amazon). They both arrived quickly and in perfect working condition (thanks again Amazon). My wife is the more discriminating user, and has used this model for about a month, and the following review is mainly from her experience. She has long hair that’s been permed for loose curls. Her hair is not thin nor thick, but average. She does color her hair, and uses good quality conditioners and leave-in treatments as needed. Here are her comments (compared to other hair dryers she has used):
** PRO’S
1. This dryer gets her hair dry quicker.
2. It leaves her hair softer.
3. It “may’ leave her hair shinier, but she’s not sure since she also uses conditioner and/or leave-in.
4. It is quieter (fan).
5. It has robust air movement (fan).
6. It comes with 2 accessories (concentrator, and diffuser).
7. She thought she would use the concentrator more, but the two built in air flow settings are so nice, she rarely needs to use either accessory (though they both work as intended to expand dryer functionality).
8. Visually, it looks very nice, and appears to be high quality workmanship.
9. It feels solid, not too heavy or too light in weight – it’s shape/weight is comfortable to use.
10. Having separate controls for fan speed and heat is very handy, giving easier control while drying.
11. It has a perfectly positioned cool-shot button button that is easy to hold down. We recommend holding that button at the end of styling to lock in your style, but also to cool down the heating coils before shutting it off (which we believe may prolong the working life of the dryer).
** CON’S
1. This is a complaint that will not matter to everyone, but is a pet peeve of mine, and seems to apply to every hair dryer I look at. I may not be the only consumer looking for this feature, so manufacturers..listen up. This unit has a button to switch between Hot and Warm heat settings, and it also has a cool-shot button. My wish is for Hot/Warm/Cold switch settings (with or without a cool-shot button). Ie, I’d like the dryer to be able to blow cold air without having to hold down a cool-shot button. There are just times when it would be great to use the unit for tasks needing prolonged cool air blowing. Alternatively, perhaps having a cool-shot button that clicks on/off when pressed rather that being a hold-down button would also suffice.
2-15-14 Update: Been using this dryer daily for 2 years so far, and it still works like new. Good quality.
